EDIT: Updating my review back to the 5 stars I originally gave them several years ago. The Executive Director and I engaged in a productive and professional exchange after this review was posted and it appears it was a perfect storm of circumstances that resulted in our issues. He is currently working on procedures to ensure it does not happen to any future customers.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: Four years ago I gave the bakery 5 stars and I've had several good experiences there since then. That is until this past weekend. Without going into all the detail (it would take too long) - the bakery needs to set up an order number system of some sort or use pagers or something because they are ill equipped to handle a large group of people efficiently and in proper order. In our case, we ordered bakery items which were plentiful when we ordered them. We then went to sit down and wait for our food/drinks. But because the workers were overwhelmed by the rush that came after us (and because it appeared no one observes the "please be seated after ordering" signs) they ended up serving numerous other customers after us, essentially skipping our order. We watched several of these customers walk in, order, receive their items and leave all before we received anything. This would not have been a problem had the workers pulled our bakery items when we ordered them but they did not do that, never setting our paid bakery items aside. Instead, they ended up giving away the items we had ordered to patrons who placed orders well after we did, leaving us to choose from a picked over pastry display case of undesired substitutions once we finally got our food approximately 20 minutes later.

We came and wanted buy, window information is very messy and if we didn't read all we wouldn't see text saying you have drive-in. Text was same color and kinda middle of right side window. Then we went look for your drive-in, there is no sign to where to go. there is no sign in first window saying order here, first window looked like it some kind of cleaning station with wipes on counter and no service person around. So we went 2nd window and of course there was no one in either windows waiting to serve customers so after waiting we saw car pulling behind us and stop to window 1 so we took off very disappointed to lack of signs and you lost customers. Read moreFirst, let me tell you about their service. Every person on the team is friendly and so willing to go above and beyond. They never sigh or roll their eyes. Rather, they offer to go back and forth and tell you everything in the display if you are at the drive thru and then they actually appreciate it if you decide to come in anyways. Amazing. And then there was the food. I am seriously considering driving back from Rockford for the food. There were so many fresh options! The bagel I got was crisp and perfect when toasted; the coffee was fresh, flavorful, hot and delicious; but most of all, the chocolate cappuccino muffin was just over the top.
