The Arrow Coffeehouse recently opened with a longtime employee of it's previously named "Hawaiian Beanz / Surf Bear Coffee", Erica, as the new owner. Erica is a young entrepreneur realizing her dream of coffee shop ownership. She has taken pride in redesigning the shop (still a work in progress, as she says, nothing is really ever complete, is it?). The beautiful blue-grey walls and painted-on wood plank floors welcome you to this country-chic eclectic coffee shop. Erica will also greet you in her cheerful, friendly manner. The coffee is a smooth roast, not bitter or burnt tasting like "those other guys" tend to be. I found it quite delicious! (The coffee roaster she chose for her shop is a local Portland company.) The atmosphere is very inviting. I was meeting a couple of friends there and we sat at a table for hours chatting away. Erica seemed more than pleased that we were enjoying her place so well and that we were making ourselves quite at home there. She has added some wonderful personal touches to the redesign, as the bench couches and the counter where you add your sugar/creamer, are all homemade by family members. She has great support from her husband, Trevor, who you will find behind the counter sometimes and also running supply errands for her. It's truly a family affair. In addition to coffee & espresso, there are smoothies, donuts from Sandy's famous Joe's Donuts, bagels from Gresham's Jazzy Bagels, and baked goods like cookies and biscotti from Damascus bakery Sweet Cream Bakery. It gives me warm fuzzies to support a local business who also supports local business. I will be returning over and over again to this wonderful place. Check it out, you won't be...
Read moreI live in Vancouver WA and was out in Happy Valley running some errands. After taking my dog on a walk at hidden falls I needed coffee and google led me straight here! The gal behind the counter was warm and friendly. She recommended their home made Carmel sauce latte which I went with. The inside is adorable and the latte is DELICIOUS! The only downside was there was no where for my dog to join me inside or outside so I had to take my drink to go. But that’s no fault of the owners, there just isn’t space for it and they make food there so they can’t be aloud inside either.
If you are in Damascus or within a 15 minute drive, it’s totally worth the trip just for the...
Read moreIt can be difficult to find a coffee shop that also understands tea. This shop does. I ordered their seasonal "pumpkin chai fog" and it was absolutely delicious. A very nice mix of cream, sweetness, and spice. Not too sweet, not too spicy. I also have celiac and learned that they have gf pastries. They are unwrapped in the case up front with everything else which was a turn off at first until I heard they keep things in the wrapping gs from the dedicated gf bakery in the back so were able to pull out a pastry that I was comfortable eating. The atmosphere is nice and chill with lots of plants and good background music. Will definitely be...
