Four years ago, I gave La Rocca’s a 5 star review: “Very small place, but the best pizza around.”
Four years later and I have to say, this was the worst dining experience that we’ve had in a while. First of all, it’s 74 outside and it had to be 85 inside. We had immediate seating, which was great. They’re employing high school kids for wait staff, which is also great. The service was OK, it took a while for someone to take our order. Some additional training would help, can’t blame the staff for that.
We both ordered lasagna @ $15, which included bread but no salad or other sides.
And then we waited. In the meantime, the chef was out of the kitchen, visiting with patrons for over 10 minutes. When he went back to kitchen, he was eating food the entire time he was cooking food, which we thought was kind of strange.
I felt sorry for the couple with 2 kids, who got there before us and didn’t get served until after we did.
The lasagna was not good. The sauce was thin, watery, and pale (not a thick red tomato sauce) and also very salty. After the first taste, I said to my wife “this sauce tastes just like Spaghetti-O’s!” & she said “that’s EXACTLY what I was thinking!”.
The lasagna had some meat and cheese layers, but they were thin. By the time we got served, we were starving and we ate it regardless. The bread was honestly the best part of the meal, but we had to ask for bread to be served before we got our lasagna and ate most of it before the main course. Honestly, Costco lasagna is 1000% better and you get 4 times as much lasagna for under $20. Just sayin’…
It looked to us like they were serving a lot of carry-out pizza, and maybe the pizza is still good. I definitely would advise patrons stick to the pizza and avoid the pasta…
With all that said, we love to support local restaurants and back local businesses as much as possible. I hope the owner reads this review and instead of getting mad, says “we...
Read moreTwo lasagna and cheese bread. Two tables are already sitting. Table of two adults and three kids sit 5 minutes after us. They get their pizza in a half hour. Finish and leave. Man ,by himself, sat 20 minutes after us, gets his meal, and I've had it! It's now over an hour, and we don't even have the cheese bread. Started talking with our server about what is taking so long, and the hostess decided that she wanted in on the conversation. Straight out with an attitude. As far as I'm concerned, "Sorry, But bla bla bla" is not an apology. She didn't come over with concern for us and our experience at their restaurant. No, she came over to "defend" the waitress and make excuses. I was being polite to our waitress, I was calm and talking quietly, I just wanted to know what was taking so long. She explained that the pizza is made by a different cook than the rest of the food. OK, so you would think that the food would come out sooner. Then she asked if I wanted to talk with the owner, but it would take longer to get our food because the owner is the person cooking it. You mean the woman who came out to the dining room to talk with two other tables in the time we have been here? She now has no time to talk? Well, I guess we no longer have time for your restaurant. An excuse is not an apology. The hostess is looking for an argument, in my opinion, and shouldn't be in...
Read moreOn a Thursday evening, a little after 5:00 p.m. we waited an hour and a half for two entrees, a salad and a pizza. The chicken Marsala consisted of three small chicken breasts that were pounded thin and barely sautéed with mushrooms that were dumped straight from the can on to the dish. The chicken Parmesan was a single, small filet hidden under a sea of sauce. No care was taken in the presentation of any of the food (the pizza was okay). Yes. We ate every bite because of the small portion sizes and the length of time it took to get our meals. Every restaurant has an off night and I wouldn’t have taken the time to write this review if it wasn’t for the $90 tab (with tip) that we paid for a truly disappointing experience.
The owners don’t respond to negative reviews and it seems that they’re not into apologies, compensation or doing anything to preserve their reputation and retain customers. From the reviews I’ve read, you have pretty good odds of being left frustrated and impoverished after your meal. We felt taken advantage of after...
