I work at the Charleston Marina, so I have had plenty of opportunity to explore the myriad of wonderful cuisine that Monkey Business has to offer, from the world class clam chowder, to the near irresistible Jungle Fries and BBQ Fries. But today I did resist those options, and I chose to embark on a masticatory odyssey as I tore through a quad Garlic Bacon Cheeseburger with extra bacon (strips, to go with the delicious and crunchy crumbles that the sandwich already features), and double extra grilled onions. The burger came out nicely seared (a quality which I could taste even with the additional toppings), well stacked, and in more than ample proportion. I literally could not put it down until I was done! Amazingly, it held together down to the last bite, and the Garlic Fries that I ordered and placed below the burger as I nommed caught all the yummy drippings, making them even more scrumptious. The fries made a wonderful dessert, and the complimentary lemon-lime water, fresh from a countertop dispenser, added just the perfect touch of citrus to cleanse the palate. I highly recommend Monkey Business, and if you want to try the madness that I had them create for me, just let them know you'd like your Garlic Bacon Cheeseburger to be "Michael Style!"

We ate lunch here one day and it so wonderful that we came back the next day at 10 am so we could eat again before we had to leave town. (It’s lunch o’clock somewhere, right 😀). The staff are so kind and friendly and the food, needless to say, is fresh and delicious! There is indoor seating on picnic tables or an area with table and chairs. On Day one we had two fish tacos and two shrimp tacos. The Baja sauce is creamy with a mild zip -yummy! The cilantro lime sauce also creamy and mild -also tasty. Also had a bowl of clam chowder and it definitely lived up to expectations based on the rave reviews. On day two we had fish and chips and fried prawns -all melt-in-your-mouth fresh! Lightly battered and cooked to perfection. The Cole slaw was a delightful surprise, light on the mayo and a little dill in the mix, cabbage fresh and crunchy. As I mentioned all staff are friendly. The owner, Kathy, took time to come out and ask about our meal and experience. We had already been traveling the coast for a few days and were quite disappointed in some of the seafood restaurants that were had visited, the food being mediocre at best. Monkey Business sets the bar high and we look forward to coming back in the future.

If you are looking for a seafood feast, you might want to check out monkey business, a food truck parked at the docks in Charleston. They have a variety of dishes to choose from, such as clam chowder, fish and chips, crab cake sandwich, burgers, and more. I ordered the clam chowder and the fish and chips, and I was pleasantly surprised by how good the chowder was. It was rich and creamy, with chunks of clams and potatoes, and a hint of herbs. The fries were also excellent, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The fish and chips, however, was the only disappointment. The fish was bland and the batter was soggy. It lacked flavor and texture. The crab cake sandwich and burgers were delicious and filling, with fresh ingredients and generous servings. The service was also great, with friendly staff and made to order food. The prices were reasonable for the quality and quantity of food, especially in a tourist destination like the Oregon Coast. Overall, I enjoyed my lunch at monkey business, and I would go back again to try their other dishes. I think they are a great seafood spot in Charleston/Coos Bay Area! We also saw seals on the docks behind the food cart, so big bonus points!

I will be the naysayer here. While the food is fresh and homemade, it's way overpriced for the portions and it's not that flavorful.

We ordered a 4 portion fish & chips, but in fact, we only got 2 fillets of fish which were then cut in half. Portion means a fillet, not just a back or a belly. Fish is fried nicely in a tempura like batter, but neither the fish nor the batter has any seasoning. I have had more flavorful fried fish from Denny's (yes, it was that bland).

The fries were fine, but the tarter and cocktail sauce were excellent, and the real standout was coleslaw. I could eat an entire bowl of that - it was excellent.

The clam chowder barely had any clams. It was a homemade milk based soup with an overwhelming flavor of bacon with marginal amounts of clams and potatoes. It didn't have the characteristic of an ocean forward meal. This was something akin to a Cracker Barrel bacon soup. While I appreciate the amount of home made effort, it had zero flavor akin to the sea. The really odd thing is that they put a pat of butter on the top of the soup. It doesn't make any sense to add milk fat to a milk based soup with pork fat. Flavors need to complement each other, not stack on top of each other.

Bottom line - homemade meals that are lacking in flavor and are too expensive for the portions.

On a positive note, the restaurant was extremely clean and the service was great. However, the area is surrounded by dilapidated cars and foreclosed business. They are definitely paying...
