I adore this no-frills, down home, local bar and restaurant. If you are driving to Mt. Hood, don't miss this place for a huge helping of whatever their special of the day is on the menu. The staff goes out of their way to welcome visitors and I usually stop here for dinner on the way from PDX to Central Oregon. I've tried their meatloaf and prime rib specials and it was delightful every time.
If you want a sparkling clean, fancy dinner spot, do NOT go here. The place hasn't been remodeled in about 30 years. You might get laughed out of the bar if you order a crantini or use words like "mixology" or "gluten free" likely. Your salad will probably have (gasp) iceberg lettuce and not organic spring greens. The locals sitting at the bar might be rowdy and curse loudy at whatever game is on the tv. However, I personally like a little grit when visiting a dive bar where you can get huge helpings of food, a beer, and wear jeans and tees or even muddy mountain bike clothes and no one will blink an eye.

Read moreI stopped by for breakfast at this popular local bar and had an interesting experience.
The bar had a few customers as I sat down and reviewed the menu.
I ordered two eggs, a sausage patty, two pancakes, and orange juice.
The breakfast menu has omelets, breakfast burritos, French toast, and much more.
The lunch menu has burgers, sandwiches, steak, salads, and soup.
I received my order in about ten minutes with no problems.
The pancakes were a little overcooked, but were light and fluffy.
The sausage had a nice taste to it, and the eggs were not overcooked.
You will find a classic bar vibe with low lighting, lottery machines, and a small ceiling with a cozy fireplace.
Located in Welches on Hwy 26 on the left side if you are driving toward Portland.
A nice place to eat in the Mt. Hood area with friendly service, a menu with a number of options,...
Read moreWhat's not to love? Local place that has been around since the 1930s. It's a bar that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Best sausage gravy my husband has ever had, and if you saw him you could tell he's tried a lot of gravies in his day! I had to try the Whistle Burger for lunch and never had dinner.....you can probably see my video somewhere online trying fit that monster in my mouth. Kay is a Gem, but I recommend you keeping her in your good side. The chef has been there for 29 years! If feeling frisky, try the Morracan Coffee for breakfast and enjoy the show, but you're only allowed 2...if you can make it through the first one. There are evening events some nights of the week, and a back patio for your pooches, and a gaming area. This has just the right vibe for us small town folks from Florida. Thank you so much for a great time at the...
