During a recent trip to Sandy, OR, we chose The Rendezvous as our first dining experience based on its promising website and favorable reviews. However, our experience didn’t live up to the initial expectations we had set.
Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed and escorted to a table of our choosing, which gave us hope for a pleasant evening ahead. Unfortunately, this welcome proved to be where the service stopped. Despite spending significant time exploring the menu and eagerly discussing our choices, no servers approached us—not to check on us, not to offer drinks, and not to take our order!
Time passed, and we started to observe something unsettling. Guests who had arrived after us were greeted warmly, served attentively, and even engaged in cheerful conversations with the staff. Meanwhile, we were completely overlooked, unable to shake off the growing feeling of neglect. The lack of attention led us to question the overall operation of the restaurant. A chaotic front-of-house could very well mean issues in the kitchen as well.
After waiting as patiently as we could, my husband set a timer for 10 more minutes, hoping the situation might turn around. Sadly, it didn’t. With no sign of acknowledgment or care from the staff, we eventually decided to leave. To our disappointment, not a single member of the staff noticed or tried to stop us—further cementing our feelings of dissatisfaction.
Thankfully, our evening took a delicious turn at a nearby restaurant, Naan Curry Indian, where we enjoyed incredible food and stellar service.
While The Rendezvous initially seemed like a great choice, our experience proved otherwise. Service is as important as the food in creating a dining experience, and unfortunately, the Rendezvous fell short on both counts during our visit. Hopefully, they can address these issues, as their reputation certainly suggests having seen...
Read moreWe have come here since we moved to this area. It's changed chefs a few times, and management has changed hands. The prices have always been pretty high, but like everything else, they've gotten pretty prohibitive lately. They do have cheaper pub side food as an option, but it's still not cheap. The quality of the food has also varied a lot over the years, and cost vs. portion size has also been an issue.
We stopped going a few years back, even though it was our go-to for anniversary, birthdays, and Valentine's and such for many years. It was just too expensive with little to offer in value in its food.
We went on a date there the other night for the first time in oh, probably two or three years, and it was pretty good--almost as good as it was years ago. There were new dishes, some really creative ones. Wagyu cottage pie, for instance, which my husband very much enjoyed.
I miss the fact that they used to serve escargots, a childhood favorite of mine. It used to be one of my reasons to go. That stopped, and there really hasn't been much that is particularly appealing after that, as the menu really did not change all that much.
This last time, they had bison chili, which was extremely good. The new owner seems to have resumed the creative menu ideas and quality, unusual ingredients. I hope to see more seafood and such in the future whenever we can afford the indulgence to go. Unlike other places in the area that try to be higher-end dining, Rendezvous at least tries to provide the value for their pricing.
There are lots of blue-hairs filling the tables of the dining room these days, which is a sign in and of itself. Maybe the new crew and a fresh menu will change that.
Service is always great. It...
Read moreGreat little gathering place with a delightful menu. We stopped here for gathering with family friends. It's not the first time here but both times were equally impressive. We gathered for dinner and both the food menu and drink menu had plenty of options. Our group tried a little bit of everything. The bread and salads had plenty of flavor. They make their own croutons in house, as well as some dressings. You won't find this flavor anywhere else. The steak and golden Yukon mashed potatoes were cooked to perfection. All their beef is sourced locally from organic farms, which means you're not getting commercial grade cuts. The mushroom ravioli was filled with flavorful mushrooms. Each bite was a delight to the taste buds. Another amazing dish we had was the smoked salmon Alfredo. You can taste the salmon in each bite and they definitely didn't skimp on the fish portion. This is one of the largest plates they have, so make sure you have an empty belly when attempting this plate. Or you can have them split it between two people like we did. The final entree we had was the pork loin sandwich. Cooked to perfection and loaded with flavor, this is a dish anyone can enjoy. It comes with your choice of fries or a mixed green salad. The salad had its house made vinegarette on it. Again, another flavor only found here. To top everything off, we finished with a white chocolate cheesecake that just made our taste buds dance with joy. They are well proportioned slices, so if you're feeling full, splitting a slice between two or three people will be good. It was very rich in flavor. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for good dining. Expect between 30 to 50 per person. Definitely...
