#MamaChus is a wonderful Mexican restaurant located at the mouth of Provo canyon. It’s very popular so getting there at non peak times is advised, if you don’t want to wait. We often go for early lunch about 1130. They offer great service, with speedy delivery of food. Some of the dishes we’ve tried and enjoyed are The complimentary house salsa and fresh tortilla chips which are wonderful. I love how spicy the salsa is, the heat can vary from day to day which allows you to know it’s house made. The chips are also freshly made. I will often add the salsa to my rice to give it more of a kick. My mum has enjoyed the lunch special of #TwoBeefEnchiladas Which is smothered in yummy sauce and cheese. It’s served with their tasty beans and rice and a soft drink per lunch special. The most excellent #PolloDeshebrado is Shredded breast of chicken sauteed with tomato, onion, garlic, and pepper. This dish has wonderful fresh tomato and garlic flavor, and it’s not spicy. The dish is served with the house beans and rice And a pile of lovely corn tortillas. I really enjoy the #BistecMexicano which is Succulent Sirloin steak topped with tomato, chunks of white onion and smothered with chile verde. They give you a lot of steak, which is wonderful, Lots of veggies and comes with house rice and beans and a bunch of corn tortillas. #CamaronesDelGolfo Shrimps sautteed in delicious tomato sauce flavored with lemon, tender onions, tomatoes and green peppers. Served with rice, beans and fresh tortillas. I Also enjoy the Wonderful #Taquitos (Deep fried corn tortilla roll, stuffed with seasoned meat) combination. Two Chicken Taquitos Served with rice, beans, guacamole and sour cream. Sometimes I Will order it with double beans and forgo the rice. The #Chimichanga lunch special is nice, Served with the usual house Rice, Beans and soft drink. The lovely dessert of #Flan is a craving. The flan has lovely spices and a great sweet flavor, but not too sweet, which I appreciate. For beverages we enjoy the #Limonada with refills and the tasty #Horchata (no refills) but comes in a big glass. Mamá Chus is a real find, some of the best, fresh, local Mexican food with big portions, wonderful service, and great prices. I love eating at Mamá Chus.

I got recommended this place by a friend, and remember enjoying it a few years ago, so I took my family last night. I think the restaurant has lots of potential, but I think there was a real lame.chef working last night. The salsa seriously looked like they had dumped a bottle of whole tomatoes in a bowl with some fresh jalepanos that were cut open to let their seeds spill out. We asked the waitress for her highest recommendations that were seafood related. She highly recommended a shrimp dish in a tomato sauce, and Shrimp Fajitas. It tasted like a bottle of plain tomatoes was dumped on some.cooked shrimp. When the waitress asked how my husband liked it, he said he was disappointed. She openly admitted that the dish usually looked different and that the cook didn't prepare it correctly, but no discount or anything more than an apology. My daughter really liked the Shrimp for the Fajitas, but instead of bringing out a plate with lots of yummy Fajita toppings, there.was only a small bowl of soup cream an guacamole. I had a Carne Asada Steak Tacos. They were good, but still no cheese or anything tomato ish to add to the tacos. It was disappointing for I really wanted to write a rave reviews, and I felt their cook blew what could have been a great review to a blah review.

I grew up in San Diego and had the privilege of eating good Mexican food at plenty of places. Unfortunately Mama Chus is nowhere close to that level. I got the carne asada burrito and paid extra for cheese. The food came out pretty quick. The amount of steak in the burrito was extremely underwhelming with a lot of it just underutilized empty space. The beans were very runny, diluted with grease and/or water. There was only so many bites I could take of it all before it started to become unsettling. Don't know why but I packed it up to-go. When I tried to eat it the next day I couldn't stomach it so I threw it all out. The plate is large, yes, but the majority of it is the beans and rice. On the menu it says your table is limited to two containers of chips & salsa when you're dining in. I've NEVER seen a restaurant put a limit like that. The value is not there for the prices they're charging. You're better off grabbing a burrito at Rancherito's/Beto's...

1/25/2025: Positive experience - 4/5 stars

BACKSTORY - 1/5: I wasn't excited about going here because they've never got my order correct and they always forget some of my items. It has been as if they don't speak English, but they seem to...it just always frustrated me so much I never wanted to come back. I only came this time because it was my friends birthday.

Luckily this time the girl taking our order spoke and understood English. I asked for a custom order and she asked the owner and got approval to do it.

ORDER UNDERSTANDING - 5/5: I ordered a burrito with no beans and triple meat (beef, pork, and chicken), and half red, half green sauces. They charged me $15, which I thought was pretty fair based on their other prices.

FOOD - 4/5: My burrito tasted great. The combination of the three meats helped the meats taste delicious instead of the usual semi-bland taste, especially of the chicken. The sauces were very watery tonight and so my burrito was soaked and soggy. That wasn't very pleasant but everything else was.

One in our party got a chicken burrito and her chicken breast was bland with little flavor. If your meat can't stand on its own, flavor-wise, then you need to rethink the recipe. Every piece of a meal should taste great on its own.

CHIPS & SALSA - 3/5: I dislike that they only give such small portions and then charge for extra. Other places don't charge extra and this dropped my rating down a LOT. But they do have mild salsa and three women in our party requested that and they enjoyed the chips and salsa here for the first time ever. So that's pretty cool.

SERVICE - 5/5: Both the chef who brought out our food and the server were kind and interacted with us well. They were friendly and nice.

FUTURE: This still isn't my place of choice, but I'm glad to finally have a good experience here. If every experience was like this, I...
