I typically donât write reviews, but I felt compelled to share my recent experience at The Wing Shack, as it left me feeling disrespected and deeply disappointed. From the moment I sat at the bar, the bartender, Breana, was dismissive and unprofessional. Despite multiple attempts to get her attentionâcalling her name and raising my handâshe repeatedly ignored me, even making direct eye contact at times without acknowledging me. It wasnât particularly busy, so the lack of attention felt deliberate. When Breana finally approached me, she didnât offer a drink menu or any sort of warm greeting. Moments later, she gave the women seated next to me a menu without hesitation. I politely asked her why I wasnât offered one, and she still did not respond. I ended up asking the guests beside me if I could look at their menu just to place an order. Even after that, when I was ready to order, she continued to engage with other patrons and ignored me again until I firmly said, âExcuse me, Iâm not done ordering.â She eventually took my order and brought my food but was once again unavailable when I needed lids to take the rest of my meal home. I had to physically get up and ask someone else for help. At that point, I couldnât help but thinkâwhat if I had just left without paying? She hadnât been attentive to me at all. When she finally did approach to process my paymentâafter I had moved to another part of the venueâI left no tip, as I truly felt I had not received any level of service. I even wrote a note on the receipt expressing how I felt. Her reaction was very telling: she appeared visibly upset and spent the remainder of the evening throwing glances our way, rolling her eyes, and clearly speaking about us within earshot. It felt immature and incredibly unprofessionalâmore like high school behavior than hospitality. What hurt the most was how excluded and dismissed I felt. As an Afro-Latina woman, I couldnât help but wonder if that had something to do with the way I was treated. I don't like to make assumptions, but being overlooked, ignored, and treated with such indifference is not something anyone should experienceâespecially in a public setting where hospitality should be a priority. To their credit, I did speak with the Assistant Manager toward the end of the night, who sincerely apologized on Breanaâs behalf and even offered a round of drinks. While I appreciated the gesture, it doesnât undo the poor service and how uncomfortable I felt throughout the evening. This experience left a lasting impression for all the wrong reasons. I had looked forward to enjoying a night out, but instead left feeling disrespected and invisible. I will not be returning to this location, and I sincerely hope management takes steps to ensure all guests are treated with equal...
Read moreThis experience was AWFUL. Things to know, there was a BIG football event happening at the timeâŚ. They were busy⌠and obviously OVERWHELMED and drowning. I understand⌠itâs a non peak day, you get a rush, but man did you fail. The waitress was nice, and overwhelmed. Struggled to operate their handheld device and system. Someone in our group was given the handheld and the patron ordered HER OWN BUCKET OF DRINKS!!! (Which was the only thing that came) We ordered drinks and they came in 10oz plastic cups. It also took 20+ minutes to get our drinks We ordered water and red bull⌠it never came. We asked 3x still nothing. Eventually, we went to The Family Dollar next door and bought our own. (To be clear we asked 3x over 2.5 hours) At hour 3 of us not having our food, we asked to see a manager. The âmanagerâ came out (not a real manager, just another waitress). Her name was Helene (sp?)⌠wow what a poor representation of Wing Shack. She was rude, defensive and condescending. She literally said â do you want your food or not?â When we asked about our food. She said sheâd take care of it⌠and rush the order. However, she wouldnât listen to us when we were trying to tell her what we ordered. Sheâs awful⌠not the right fit⌠Helene needs to go⌠she the WORST part of this experience. Our food FINALLY came out (incorrect) and cold. We also didnât get out complete order. Stephanie for the win. Stephanie is the MVP of this situation. She noticed how bad the experience was and came and checked in. She had empathy and follow through⌠she was the only person working who was hustling and showed any care for the customer experience. Promote Stephanie, give her raise, appreciate her, retain her⌠she was great!!! We asked for the manager again, and we got another waitress⌠who was the manager? Were they working? What I will say to the âmanagerâ, you should be ashamed on how this whole thing played out. However, you should be even more ashamed of putting your employees in this situation. You did not set them up for success, you failed as a leader. At the end of the day, the comped out bill⌠which was appreciated Thank you: Thanks Stephanie (youâre great) Thank you Family Dollar next door for offering us water and red bull to purchase (since we didnât get it from the restaurant) Thank you Taco Bell for delivering us great food⌠to the restaurant/bar⌠because we...
Read moreWe have been consistently attending Wing Shack's Monday Night Trivia by Trivia Nation for the past 3 months. We always bring the largest team table in the house which usually consists of 8 - 16 people. Any Monday night regular will know our team name as "The Hot Mess Express Yourself." We order copious amount of wings and beverages during the 2.5+ hours that we sit there every Monday, and we're more usually than not, somewhere in the top 3 teams placing in the trivia competition... which comes with a prize of a coupon discounting your bill on a future visit.
The food is, usually, great. The service is almost always poor. This is not the individual servers fault (which is almost always someone new, high turnover rate), but usually management's fault as they never seem to have more than one server scheduled for the entire restaurant, which is usually packed. We deal with this bad service because it's a good time amongst friends, and the trivia host, Fox, is fantastic.
Up until tonight, the servers and management have always been more than happy to split our previous week's winnings (discount voucher) amongst all checks at our table. It is, after all, a team effort of why we place high and win said vouchers. Tonight, however, we were refused this request by the server, by management (who claims to have been there every Monday for the past 5 years, and stated that they have NEVER done this for any other groups before) and the owner who was contacted via phone call. The problem is though, they have indeed done this for us every single week for the past 3 months.
After dealing with a very rude and defiant position from management and ownership, we explained that if we were not heard and accommodated on our request (which they have done every week for the past 3 months, costs them $0.00, and does zero to mess up the books and accounting) that they would be losing ALL 8 - 16 of us regulars... they did not seem to care.
So we're done. We'll take our customer base elsewhere on Monday's to any number of establishments that offer trvia and wings. If you're looking for a place to take your group and call it your homebase on a weekly basis, I highly do NOT recommend Wing Shack... they do...
