We went yesterday, Sunday 9 March 2025, for lunch. We sat outside at a 2-top without an umbrella. We ordered a Wagyu burger and a Cuban sandwich from our server, Joel. We asked for the burger to be prepared medium rare and I asked for mayonnaise (not traditional for a Cubano) to be left off and for extra pickles to be added. He told us that neither request be accommodated. For the burger, he said, "It's two patties fried in its own juices," and "the sandwiches are pre-made. I asked for the manager.
Aaron or Allen, a manager, came over and said that yes the sandwiches are pre-made. They get their Cuban bread from La Segunda bakery in Tampa. This is what makes their sandwich special (if you know anything about Cuban sandwiches). I asked about pre-making a sandwich and sticking it in the fridge for hours - the bread getting soggy and hard. I asked about food allergies. He said I'd have to order something else if that were the case. I asked if I could at least have extra pickles. When the sandwich arrived it came with a cup of 3.5 pickles. The kitchen couldn't even be bothered to open the sandwich and put them on before toasting the sandwich. And the fries were cold. (I guess they were pre-made too.)
It started to rain and as our table didn't have an umbrella, we moved inside. The hostess wasn't at her station and our server motioned us to a booth. We resumed our meal and the host arrived telling us there was a wait for tables. We have plates on our table and are eating! She knows it's raining outside because she's not seating anyone outside. Our server came back over and we resumed our meal. When the check came, it included multiple items that we hadn't ordered. He added someone else's order to our check.
We have been going to both Oceanside locations for years. This is not what we are accustomed to in regard to quality and service. Very...
Read moreHad the great joy of dining here tonight with the fantastic Ruby, She was slaying with the single braid and greatest tude, thanks ruby for everything u were giving bc not only were u serving but u were slaying give this girl a raise right now bc i guarantee u $2.13 + tips isnt cutting it for the show stopping performance that she was so generously giving. My sister and I split the jonathan chicken and the shramps and grits- great eats might I add. I shouldve listen to Ruby and her wise advice to get a box to go because I downed 70% of the shrimp and grits and I’m fuller than a tick, but a happy one might I add. (never go against rubys suggestions bro shes so wise) Wanna shout out gabriel (boy with the glasses) all he did for us was bring my bf his drink but he did it with grace and poise, AND he was bussing tables with all his might and chasing after menus that were flying away. Honestly all around great staff and they deserve more appreciation I know how restaurants can be give gabriel and ruby an extra shift drink or free meal or something bc they stood out and went above and beyond. I’m gonna start repeating myself if i write anymore but food was 10/10 and service was unrankable bc words couldnt begin to describe. Everyone do themselves a favor and stop by here for dinner-will update with brunch review...
Read moreReviewing Oceanside Ormond Beach. I don’t often review, however I myself read reviews and find reviews very helpful especially with the high cost to dine out. We have had breakfast on several occasions and it was good. We decided to order take out on Saturday evening. We ordered the jumbo wings, smash burger melt with a loaded bake potato and the bacon and blue wedge salad. I was disappointed with the wings. They were overcooked. The old bay spice was good, however the chicken was dried up and tough given the overcooking. I did not eat them. (Not certain why they called them jumbo as they were your average size wings) The smash burger melt was very good and would order again. The loaded bake potato was not what you expect, was not sure what it was when I opened the to go container.. it was 2 pieces, dry and did not look appealing (not worth the up charge) Bacon blue salad was good. It was romaine lettuce which I prefer. It could have had more bacon for the $12.00 price tag. I know I sound critical, however with so many restaurants to choose from and again the high price to eat out I feel honesty is paramount. Overall I was not impressed with my first dinner meal at Oceanside Ormond Beach. We live down the road and will be willing to give it another try...
