This was the first time going to this location. Upon placing our order after each item we ordered we were asked will that be it in the mean time the very young men in the kitchen are looking at the screen of our incoming order with looks of anger on their faces. Keep in mind there may have been 5 tables of people in the dining room around 6:30pm on a Friday night. So deff not busy. After placing our order which was to go we sat and waited for it. 10 min later we are told if we want the 2 orders of mashed potatoes we ordered it would be an additional 15 min wait. Ok well wait. Still yet to see a member of management even check on the front of the house. 20 min later our food that is finished is placed in the warmer still no mashed potatoes. At this point we've got 3 employees wandering aimlessly and flirting with one another behind the counter and in the kitchen while we're still waiting. It was clear to me there was plenty of work to be done around there which was not being done. Finally everything is done standing at the counter waiting for it to be bagged the young lady proceeds to put 3 full meals and 2 sides in one bag apologizing for the wait on the potatoes sends us on our way. This is a fairly new place that is nice inside where its clear that most of the employees are clueless and could care less if they have your business or not. We visited the location located in Ontario,Oh a couple weeks ago and were treated like family all of the employees were smiling and the manager well he was a great guy that deserves to have a place to work in as nice as the location in Orrville,Oh because even though his location is desperately in need of a remodel(pails catching dripping water in the atrium kind of need) we felt appreciated. The staff working in Orrville,Oh tonight should take notes from those that work in Ontario,Oh location. Long review yes...
Read moreUsed Old Carolina to cater our wedding and was thoroughly disappointed in the customer service we received. The food was amazing and we got many compliments on the choices we picked and I have no bad words for the food or the wonderful people who came to serve the food. The manager communicated so poorly with us that I began wishing I had more time to find someone else before the wedding. We booked with the old manager who travelled all the way up to a location closer to us and knew our venue already and was so confidence inspiring. That manager left and we were left to deal with Tanner. Besides an email sent roughly a week prior to final payment I was never contacted about payment until the day before where I received a very rude email basically threatening to cancel contract (I was still within the timeframe to pay). They had my phone number and never once called me, instead I hear they called my venue to tell them I wasn’t paying. I paid on time with someone who couldn’t find my contract. I also sent my final headcount long before it was ever due and specified I needed 10 vendor plates which were meant to be comped - we find out just before the wedding that they charged us for 10 extra meals instead. They had to refund us. We thought all was behind us after seeing how amazing the staff were during dinner service but find out after the wedding when we go to grab our leftover cake that they never cut our cake. It was in our contract they assist with cake cutting and we found our cake with only 1 slice missing from when we cut it ourselves. If you’re looking for a wonderful meal then I would order from here, but if you’re looking for somewhere to cater your events then look elsewhere and save yourself...
Read moreI stopped by Old Carolina for lunch while I was in town. I've been here numerous times before, but I always ordered the same thing. Today, I decided to sample some different menu items that I've never tried. I started off with the 2-meat sampler of pulled pork and 2 chicken tenders. I added fries and green beans as my sides. I also asked for a side of mac and cheese, slaw, and a side salad. Again, lots of food to sample! The pulled pork was great - not dry, good smoke flavor, lots of nice bark pieces. The breading on the chicken fingers was a wee bit salty for my liking, but the chicken itself was very flavorful. They were pretty big pieces. The slaw was fresh and was a nice complement to the pork. The mac and cheese was just "okay" for me. I'm not a fan of Velveeta, and I feel that it was the main ingredient, so I most likely won't order it again. The salad was great! I'm glad they add more ingredients to it other than just the usual cheese and tomatoes. I love the green beans- they were fresh, not salty, and had a nice peppery flavor complete with pieces of brisket. The fresh cut fries are amazing! They normally come with a salty seasoning on them, but I always ask for mine without. In all, I'm very happy that I tried some different things on the menu. The food portions are good size. I had plenty of leftovers to take home. On a side note, if you like dill pickles, they have the BEST!!! A huge shout out to the gal who took my order - I asked her if they could sans any additional salt on my order. I'd like to add it came out perfectly! Great job to the Orrville OCB team.
The real bonus was being able to sit in front of the fireplace on a cold winter...
