The Brickhouse — Restaurant in Orwigsburg

This place seems to be going through an identity crisis. The establishment attempts to create an upscale look and feel (which it does achieve) but then things like radio music and glasses with local advertising brings it back to a diner. Though, there isn’t anything wrong with the “diner” look and feel, the menu prices don’t seem to reflect actual setting. I went with a group of 6 people and a baby, although we weren’t a small group, it shouldn’t have been difficult to accommodate us. The wait staff pushed a couple tables together but unfortunately directly behind us was another large table and directly to our right was an open area. As for the wait staff they seemed to do okay, maybe could have more experience to match the atmosphere they are trying to achieve. Our drink orders (only one was alcoholic) took over 20 minutes to bring, then after we ordered our meals our salads took another 20+ minutes to be delivered as well. Finally our meals came, I had gotten the Alfredo with chicken. I will admit it was good, didn’t need to be salted or anything. I was a little upset it didn’t come with any bread but that’s fine. I’m not sure if the lengthy wait is due to the kitchen or the wait staff. Overall the food was good but the lack in other aspects will only get 2...

This place does not disappoint! I was extremely happy with my dining experience here tonight. When I walked in by myself and let them know that I would be dining alone they did not show the slightest sign of annoyance or confusion. That was greatly appreciated. The employees here are very professional yet polite; not at all uptight. My server, Alec, was very attentive without being overbearing or invasive. He brought extra napkins, which is a big deal to me, as well as refilled my drink, removed unused plates and even boxed up my food for me! Excellent service! On top of all of that I just have to say that my food was spectacular! I remember liking the food here but I was honestly surprised at how delicious my sandwich and fries were! It was one of the best sandwiches I have eaten in years. My only complaint would be the 3.5% fee for paying with a card. This restaurant is a bit pricier than others but it's quality of food and the service make it well worth it. But a 3.5% extra charge is pretty steep to me and surprising for such a well established high end restaurant. But besides that, I highly recommend this place! I certainly plan on...

First time there, stopped out of the blue, with no reservations,staff was very accommodating, asked if we wanted a drink and look at the menu until a table was available. 5 minutes later said there was room at the bar if we wanted to wait there for a table. The place was packed ( x-mas party of some sort) the only bartender was pleasant and very fast despite the crowd, after r first round of drinks she asked if we wanted to eat at the bar, r server came and told us a table would be ready in a minute, the server asked if we would like another round of drinks for the table, we arrived same time as the drinks. Food was delicious, from appetizer to the desert, they fogot my soup, no biggie, busy with spring rolls and cobb salad, apologized about the soup asked if I still wanted it, told her I wasn't sure because of the size of the salad and spring rolls and main course coming, the server came out with two soups (only ordered one) said they were on the house, can't wait to go back, one of the best places in Schuylkill Co. we've dined at, especially not ever being there before, especially with no reservations.( Can't wait to try...
