Jacobs Lefse Bakeri & Gifts — Restaurant in Osakis

Took a drive over to Osakis today to check out some local merchants. First stop, of course, was Jacobs Lefse Bakeri & Gifts. We see the large billboard on Interstate 94, just outside Alexandria , urging us to visit, but this was our first time stopping in. The retail gift shop is small, but jam packed with great Scandinavian gift items….including jams…we purchased lingonberry. Then we purchased a tiny Norwegian coffee cup style mug for our grandson, then a box of lemon gluten free scone mix for our daughter and finally we bought lefse, of course. We are still too full to sample it, as we stopped by AJ’s Diner across the street for lunch, but my 65 years of eating lefse tells me this stuff is going to be great. We plan on buying more for holiday dinners so I asked the delightful Norwegian princess working behind the store counter if their lefse is okay after freezing. Stopped there Saturday, our first time in Osakis. The lady was super nice, we got lefse and coconut cookies. We haven't tried the lefse yet, but I tried the cookies and they were delicious!
