Mi Casa Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Ossian

I ordered the Enchiladas Poblanas for late lunch on Friday 8-6-21.... It was the best Mexican food I've had in a long time.... I had the bean and cheese dip(white cheese/with spices on top of refried beans) for an appetizer and it was great; the salsa was tasty, chips fresh and the main dish consisted of three, smoking hot cheese enchiladas smothered in onions, peppers and wonderfully-seasoned shredded pork, lightly-seasoned, fluffy, Mexican rice, full-bodied guacamole on top of fresh lettuce, tomato and slices of flavorful white cheese. The service was attentive and quick and the tasty margarita-on-the-rocks was mixed to perfection. In my opinion, if Friday's lunch- and several previous evening visits-, was any indication, this small, clean and unassuming eatery may be the best Mexican restaurant in northeastern Indiana. We couldn't eat our chips and salsa because the chips were extremely stale. We tried a different basket, and the chips were even more stale than the first basket. Service was crappy, no hospitality at all. We had to continuously ask for things when we actually seen the waitress. Plates were brought out at all different times. Most of the people at the table were done eating before the rest of the food came out to the table. We couldn't find the waitress to ask her where the rest of the food was or why the easiest plate to make was taking so long. Some of the food we ordered was ok. We had to send back the steak we ordered because it was dry and had no seasoning. Two bites from the entire plate, they still charged it to our bill. Used to love it.... It is not as good mostly due to impersonal staff and they are not nearly as friendly. They pointed to where they wanted us to sit. We didn't receive menus until well after our drink order was taken, they brought us napkins and silverware after I got a napkin from another table to clean up a spill. They didn't ask how our food was... (It wasn't as fresh tasting as it used to be.) Then when we went up to pay they didn't ask how anything was or even smile and it wad the owner who pointed at our table to sit at and rang us up when we left. This is the second time in a row it has been poor service especially compared to the past. The first time we assumed it may have been a fluke.
