Uncle Buck's Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Ottumwa

Food experience was very bad. I won't go into detail at this point because it would take forever to write it all down. It would be a waste of my time just like it was a waste of money she said she wouldn't charge me and they did anyway. Waitress didn't ask me how I liked my meal but I told her anyways. Then I had to explain it a second time to female manager/owner and a 3rd time to her male counterpart. He tried to explain the way my food turned out wasn't their fault. If your food isn't satisfactory you as the owner are at fault for not assuring our satisfaction. We were never asked once how our meals were and my friend had to reorder because they didn't have what he ordered off the menu. It just went on and on like this comment. I won't eat there again and I would be willing to work temporarily to train kitchen staff on proper preparations and wait staff on proper customer service and do's and don'ts. People for the most part were bussing their own tables while wait staff stood by the wall texting on their phones. I was told short before leave that the wait staff was 14 years old. Mind you, this is more a bare than a grill on a Saturday night. Enough food...

I enjoyed the tenderloin sandwich. It was actually so big that, by the time I finished eating everything hanging off bun, I was pretty comfortable and brought the rest home. Waffle fries were tasty. My wife got the loaded nachos (I don't remember the actual name.) They were served on toasted pita chips. I gave them a taste and, while the chips were okay (a little thick and harder to keep the toppings on) the beef tasted like there was none of the traditional taco/nacho seasoning. Would have liked a good stout or porter but there were none available. Settled for a Jim Beam and Coke. Was a decent pour which was welcome. The burgers looked like they might be worth trying...

For this town, it's an ok little bar with decent bar food. Gets a little too loud to have a conversation when the DJ starts after 9, and though there's a DJ there's no dancing. They do have a dart board, but just the one. Under new management, so they're still working out the kinks, like keeping soap in the restroom. Could be nice with a little TLC. They also need to settle on either being a family friendly place or being more of bar, currently falls somewhere in the middle, so its lacking an identity. Altogether though, I'd recommend this place over the other options, for this...
