My wife and I got a Grubhub order from here, and it was the definition of a mixed bag. Everything came in "sealed for your safety" "pull tab to open" containers except for my wife's fish. That meant nothing could be closed again except the fish itself. But these containers also have vents along the sides, which helped the fries to arrive in great condition, but also filled the entire bag with moisture and destroyed the napkins.
We ordered three things: a Philly sandwich, fish and chips, and an order of potstickers (which yes, came in one of these silly sealed for your safety containers). My sandwich was a bit dry but the meat was wonderful. The fries that came with both orders were also really damn good. They were crispy and hot and had a coating that we couldn't quite place, but seemed like parmesan and cilantro. One box was completely full and the other was half full, and we have no idea why.
The tartar sauce was...fine. It was thin and mustardy, but they gave us a ton of it. The fish however is a different story. The picture showed a traditional fish and chips, like you would expect in a proper chip shop, coated in a thick, traditional batter. What arrived was a pair of small pieces of good quality fish that were coated in a slimy mess somewhere between runny cornbread and thick soup. The coating fell off easily when the pieces were picked up, which was good because my wife didn't want any part of it. When comparing what arrived to what we received I would say both pieces of fish combined equal about two thirds of a single piece from the picture. The fish itself after removing the corn mush pretending to be breading was fine, but not worth the price by any stretch of the imagination. It also came with coleslaw and hush puppies. The puppies must have been fried with the fries, because they had some of the same flavor profile.
The potstickers were unremarkable, as was the dipping sauce. But then again this might have been a side effect of the container they came in, which damaged most of them. Of the eight we received only two were in 'good' condition.
I'm not sure if we would ever order from here again. The sandwich and fries were excellent, but nothing went as expected. Ultimately the problem is that the website sold us a much better experience than what arrived for us, which was...
Read moreFood: We went here on a Saturday evening, using the pizza passport. We had hoped to do half meat and half BBQ pork. We were told because of the sauces they couldn't do half and half, but if we were waffling, go with the BBQ. It was great! Better then the chicken BBQ pizza that we had in Memphis that the Food Network had recommended. The menu looked like there were other interesting things to try.
Atmosphere: It was karaoke night, so there were people gathering for that. There was no wait staff, so it was necessary to order at the bar. My wife wanted me to go because I knew what I wanted to ask. My first question is what kind of cheese is used. Fortunately it was mozzarella. The flaw in our plan was revealed when the two drinks were set before me. I walk with a limp and half would have splashed out before I got to the table. I told the very pretty young woman next to me that my wife would come to get them and she volunteered to carry them for me.
Just listening to the various conversations going on, introvert me would have felt comfortable going up to any of the tablles and joining in. I described it as the St. Louis version of Cheers. If it were a little closer to us, we might go here more regularly.
Caveats: This was the third time we tried to eat here. The first was a Sunday at 1:00 pm. Both Google AND the voicemail indicated that they were open at 11 or 12 on Sunday. They do not open until 4 on Sunday.
We had arranged to meet my brother-in-law and his wife at 11:30 am on a Thursday and it was not open, When I asked the bartender/owner? what time they opened, he said it depended on when he woke up. Since they are open until 1:00 a.m., it's understandable, but you may want to call ahead if you are planning to go...
Read moreI don't know where to begin! Absolutely horrible and gross. I place some of the blame on myself because I should have left when I walked in. I decided to try this place because there was a 4.5% offer in my Google pay app and a 7% cash back in my get Upside app. This is not a restaurant but a bar and they treat the preparation of your food as such. First, I asked for a double burger with lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles in a separate container so the vegetables would stay crisp and not wilt. Well you see what they gave me. Some wilted rotting lettuce. No onion, no tomato, and no onion as I requested. I took these pics when I got home. The burger as you see is just two low quality frozen patties that the cook placed in a hugh toaster oven to cook. The cook did not care about preparing my food with any sanitation protocols. The cook just quickly slopped everything on the burger with no care for quality. Everything on the burger spilled out in the bag and covered other items in the bag. The burger had no taste. I bravely ate half of it and threw the rest away. You have to be drunk to eat this food and that is what they are expecting because it is a bar. I will never go back and I'm warning everyone but I guess if you want to get drunk and eat there the food may not be as bad and you won't care about lack of care and sanitation protocols because...
