We have been going to The Oxfords on a regular basis, Shelly and Shelly were our servers, we generally sit at the bar wherever we go, so we can meet the locals and chat with the staff. The ambiance is just right, sometime its quiet, but picks up as it gets busy. The menu is very well balanced. They start you off with, a bread basket featuring in house made bread, with oil, seasonings, crushed red pepper and grated cheese, all self severed to your liking. They have a full bar, and several brews, even some local brews. Shelly and Shelly know what we like, and a draft Ale is usually sitting in front of me within a minute, along with menus. I look at the Chef's specials first, and go from there. I have never been disappointed. One particular meal I had, Ahi Tuna seared perfectly on both sides, had a sesame oil flavor with a warm and raw center (perfect sushi) and Rice noodles with a very specially made spice, seasoned with just a perfect hint of hot, with Sea Weed salad. My dinner companion had a Basil Butter Broiled Sea Scallop dinner, that was cooked to perfction. We have had several offerings, including the Steak Tips, perfectly seasoned, and Crispy Cod and Fire which is battered fried cod served over spiced rice noodles, that had just enough bite to make for a memorable dining experience. Bread Pudding desert is served with hot caramel drizzle and whipped cream, to finish off a perfect meal. Their International Coffees are also a dessert within themselves! We try to get there early because of the popularity of the place, it gets crowded and for good reason; the food is worth waiting for!! Read moreThis place has gone downhill with the new ownership. Prices keep going up and now the customer service is terrible. I tried to place an order over the phone but no one picked up for 25 minutes. I called back every two minutes and still no answer. I drove all the way to the restaurant to order my food in person and the two hostesses asked if I was picking up. I said I would be if someone answered the phone and showed them on my phone that I was still in hold after my 20th call. The hostess didn't seem too concerned and said sometimes that happens just keep calling back. No apology for the inconvenience or the extra wait I would have to endure. Finally the phone rang and she answers the phone for my call right in front of me! I said so now it is finally working. A manager walks over and says to the two hostesses that she thinks the phones are down. I said yes I know I tried to call for 25 minutes and now have to wait forever for my food. No apology or acknowledgement from her either. I placed my order and had to wait around for another 20-25 minutes. When my order was ready they called my name and just said have a goodnight. I wasn't expecting a free meal or special discount for the inconvenience, maybe a drink while I waited, but I didn't even get an apology or any empathy for their error. Read moreI go to this restaurant every Friday night with my fiance. We generally sit at the bar because we enjoy the socialization. The bartenders are wonderful and very friendly. The bar is the most diversely stocked bar I have ever seen and the drinks are creative and delicious.
The food is wonderful starting with a homemade bread with olive oil and spices. Their house salad is delicious and is a wonderful beginning to any meal. They have an array of appetizers and occasionally appetizer specials. The menu is small but includes vegetarian salads, beef, pork, chicken, seafood, Italian, pastas, veal, essentially something for everyone. The current specialty on the dessert menu is an icebox key lime pie that the owner's wife has made and it is the best key lime pie I have ever eaten. There is a reason why we go to this restaurant every Friday and we will continue to do so as long as the level of Excellence continues which so far has maintained its quality for the last 8 months that we have been going.
