How does this place not have five stars?! I'll be honest - I did not expect that this little restaurant had much going for it other than the fact it's the only one within walking distance from Oxnard Shores homes.
I'm not one for appetizers but our waitress really sold on their night's special, the BBQ CarniFlatbread. Hot, fluffy bread spread with tangy BBQ sauce generously topped with fresh, colorful bell peppers and juicy carne, beautifully arranged to appease the eyes and taste buds. Hot damn, this was an amazing flatbread. The BBQ sauce was so good! The perfect blend of sweet and spicy. 10/10 for this one. For my main course I ordered the Mac & Cheese. This dish is described on their menu as “pasta blessed with The Shore’s own secret dirty blonde cheese sauce. I wanted my bacon loaded ($14.00) but you can also get it Buffalo Style ($14.00) and traditional with roasted panko ($10.00). Oh my, blessed be this pasta. It was heavenly. Delectable soft, creamy cheese with hints of rich cheddar over perfectly cooked pasta that melts in your mouth. The bacon was an excellent addition although I would love the dish either way. I hope to try the Buffalo Mac next time I’m in!
My husband was so impressed with the carne on the flatbread, he continued the affair with Carnitas Tacos (slow roasted carnitas, roasted corn, roasted bell pepper, onion, cilantro, feta cheese, chipotle aioli, $15.00). The dish came with two very loaded tacos. I think they could have scaled back on the feta cheese just a little. It was seriously heaping and covered the entire tacos. However, they were delicious! Insane flavor and soft, pillowy tortillas. You only need two to fill you up. 100% recommended!
Our server was fantastic and very attentive. She kept the drinks coming fast! Overall, it was a wonderful experience. I truly did not expect them to blow it out of the water like they did. I can’t...
Read moreOrdered two shore signature burgers. The burgers were nothing to write home about but they hit the spot if you're in the mood for a burger. The menu says that they use wagyu beef in their patty which I take to mean they use american wagyu otherwise the price of the burger would have been insane, which it wasnt. American wagyu is a cross between the ubiquitous black angus and japanese wagyu but it basically retain most of the black angus dna. This isnt a bad thing but I feel it should be stated on the menu that it isnt japanese wagyu because it could be misleading or give off the wrong expectation. This burger though didnt really let meat shine due to the patties being over cooked. I always order my beef medium rare and i did the same for these burgers. Took one bit and HAD to take a look at the patty to confirm what my tongue already knew: meat was gray, dry, and overcooked. Also the burger was at that point cold because I had to wait an extra 7 minutes for someone to bring me the grilled onions that were already supposed to be on my burger. So by the time I got home the food was cold. I even let slide the fact that they gave me the wrong fries. They gave my girlfriend the correct fries and me the wrong ones. Wrong simply meaning “not the ones I asked for”. In conclusion, food was just whatever, this may be due to it being cold when I finally sat down to eat it. But the main thing i took away is that this restaurant’s standards and attention to detail is...
Read moreFirst visit since reopening. Saturday noonish. Probably 8-10 people near the bar when we arrived, probably 18-20 at the bar and 7-8 tables of people when we left an hour later. Noon was a great time to arrive. It was quiet noise-wise at noon, very loud and hard to have a private conversation an hour later. Ordered a club sandwich with steak fries and blackened tacos ($13 each). The club sandwich was yummy and generous, although sloppily put together. The street taco-sized halibut tacos were each 3-4 bites of taco with an odd/weird taste and too much sweetness. The tacos were so small I shared 1/2 of my sweetie’s club sandwich and still felt hungry soon after we got home. Hmmm. The server was nice, and checked back, but had way too many tables to wait to return promptly as needed. Asked about dessert, but the choice was 2 kinds of white cake (strawberry or champagne). Nothing fruity, chocolate, or cold on a hot day. Might go back for the club sandwich, might try something else. But the lunch/brunch menu choices and prices didn’t wow us. Did like the big wall art. The sports bar environment was energetic and happy. (I forgot...
