Alright. We drove down to the Colorado River just short of the Vermillion cliffs to hang out/hike/swim for the day after visiting the Lower Antelope Canyon tour. I think it's very important to note that if you drove past this restaurant, you would never know how clean and pretty the inside was. But let's move past that. I'm from the southeast where seasoning and flavor is a big part of our cuisine, and any time I go out west we have a 60/40 split of underwhelming food when we eat out due to folks having (I'm assuming) a slightly more bland palette. When we stopped in here for a bite before the drive back to Page Arizona, we were very pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food, the cleanliness of the restaurant/trading post, and the friendliness of the staff. I ordered the 1/2 chicken with vegetables and rosemary garlic potatoes, my wife ordered the grilled cheese with fruit. We ordered the cactus fries as a starter, and the 2 year old just ate what we had. Everything was absolutely great. The chicken was tender and not overly dry, the cactus fries were reminiscent of fried pickle chips that is an appetizer staple in the south, and paired well with the seasoned aoli/prickly pear sauce they came with. The vegetable mix that came with the chicken was great, (Brussel sprouts, broccoli, and bell peppers) and we're not mushy or over cooked. Hats off to the two servers we had (forgot to grab their names) that were mother and daughter. I've noticed that anywhere you go out west, folks just aren't as friendly or talkative as they are in the southeast, but these two ladies were great. Overall, service was excellent, food was a pleasant surprise, and the atmosphere was wonderful. Thanks to the staff and Noah back in the kitchen for doing a great job with everything. You all get 5...
Read moreAn excellent book lace to eat; an oasis in the desert. We were traveling from the Grand Canyon (south rim) to Zion. There were not a whole lot of places from which we could choose to stop and eat compared to other stretches of highway; however, that in no way minimizes the excellence of this establishment. It would rank high among a plethora of choices.
As an appetizer, our party enjoyed the Cactus Fries, which were accompanied by a chipotle aioli dip and Prickly Pear sauce. We appreciated both sauces, as the chipotle aioli satisfied the desire for something savory and the Prickly Pear sauce provided that special something sweet. Highly recommended!
I had the Thorâs Burger, a two-patty smash-burger the highlights of which included an on-point garlic aioli (not overpowering, but perfectly balanced for the burger) and avocado.
I ordered a Blue Corn cookie to go, as did my son. His had a frosting with sprinkles, which in my opinion took away from this offering. I rather liked this cookie; large and soft; reminiscent of a snickerdoodle. It was my first time tasting the special ingredient: juniper ash. It paired well with the espresso I ordered on my way out.
The service and atmosphere were great: warm hospitality and a clean restaurant. If ever we come again through this stretch of beautiful desert we will make a point to stop at The...
Read moreMy wife and I were staying in Page, Arizona for a few days. In the morning we elected to forgo getting breakfast in Page and try our luck along the way while exploring the area. After checking out the river at Lee's Ferry we came upon a restaurant at Marble Canyon.
Upon entering the restaurant we were pleasantly surprised by the modern, clean, and visually appealing interior.
We were promptly seated by a smiling young man who turned out to be our waiter. In the matter of minutes he brought us our two cups of hot coffee. I ordered a three eggs omelet with all the fixings. My wife ordered the breakfast Navajo Taco.
Each of our meal choices was served hot and quickly. The best part was was how delicious our meals were. The portion sizes were more than adequate.
I'm glad we decided to skip breakfast in Page, AZ.
This place is truly...
