I could say that Donna’s pizza has been around for 40 years or that I’ve been eating their pizza since I was 10 years old (I’m 49 this year) but that still wouldn’t be near the whole story. I currently live in Charlotte, NC but I grew up in Palisades Park and lived around the corner from Donna’s. Is it the most delicious pizza you’ve ever had in your life? That’s an impossible standard but, I feel like more accurately, it’s probably the most special pizza you’ll ever have in your life. I don’t know these guys at Donna’s but whenever I go back to Fort Lee to visit family during the holidays, I absolutely make it a point to pick up a slice or two from Donna’s. These guys, and I literally mean the same guys same family have been making pizza for 40+ years. Think about that. Those same hands, those years of experience of skill built up over repeatedly shaping and pulling that dough. Where on earth can you eat pizza made by people that have been making pizza for over 40 years? In today’s short cut, gimmick filled, next new thing world, that’s really truly special. Others will say they’re not the friendliest people in the world, but who cares? If you want love and attention get that from your friends and family. If you want pizza made by people who clearly have a passion and love for making something for nearly my whole life, with hands and experience that you literally can not find anywhere else in the world, go grab a slice at Donna’s. A blast to the past, a time machine back to the 1980s because they really haven’t changed anything in that many years. Bravo you guys at Donna’s, Bravo! Holidays are coming up. Can’t wait to swing by and...
Read moreDonna’s Pizza may be the heart of Old Palisades Park and holds a special place in my heart. We’re regulars, and the vegetarian pie is always our go-to. The crust? Hands down, the star of the show. It’s got that perfect balance of crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside – honestly, I could just eat the crust alone and be happy. (And I’m not even a crust person!) The ingredients are always fresh and I love their combination of veggies in their vegetarian pie. I always ask to replace the eggplant with mushrooms though (I don’t like eggplants.) They are extremely generous with portions. With 8 slices in a pie you can comfortably feed 4. A steal! There’s just something about this place that feels like home, and every time we order, it’s like we’re getting a little taste of comfort. Probably stems from the nostalgia from my school days where my friends and I would hang out after grabbing a slice or two. It’s a kid wallet friendly place and serves awesome specialty pies. They have other Italian staples like pasta and subs. Recently, I tried their meatball and tortellini soup. It was so good!!! (Local tip: their Sicilian pizza is also really good) If you’re ever in the area, don’t miss out on Donna’s – it’s the kind of place you’ll find yourself coming back to again and again. They don’t make places like...
Read moreI've been going to these place quite often, usually I get 2 slices, it's the closest pizza place in the area where I need to be. I always get here pizza to stay and they make me wait by the counter everytime when I see other people waiting at the table and today I left the counter specificity to see what will they do and the guy just screamed to me that the pizza is ready until I went to get it by myself. I asked them every single time to heat it up not too hot and he never listens, pizza is hot, can't eat it, so I have to wait for 10-15 min until the pizza gets to a normal temperature. It was very disrespectful to me as their customer!!! I'll find another place to. Pizza here is not that good anyways, pie is usualy...
