Will go again - This review may be far overdue...Totowah is one of my favorite Korean restaurants. The reason being that there are a number of options to choose from that is definitely above average quality. One of the most famous is their donkatsu: Korean fried pork cutlet with gravy. There's also an option with cheese, which I order everytime. However, the no cheese is excellent as well. Make sure to ask for the gravy on the side. What can I say, their donkatsu is very crunchy (probably double fried like Korean fried chicken), sweet and savory with that gravy sauce. Because of being fried, the pork cutlet is very juicy and makes your mouth water with every bite. The gravy is thick yet liquid enough that it pours smoothly out of the metal genie-looking bottle, if you order it on the side.
Among other great options are the bibim mandu, cream donkatsu, jjampong, and many more. It is tough to choose a bad item here. But if you do...that's your fault lol. Stick to the popular dishes.
For COVID times, unfortunately, there is no outdoor dining. They have dine in with tables separated by a plastic covering, similar to many other restaurants these days. The interior has a casual ambience with almost wodden everything from tables to benches on one side. Nonetheless, it is clean and seems to be managed well.
No parking lot, street parking with meters but price is not bad. They also take...
Read moreTtottowa Plus does a great job of capturing that casual, homey vibe you’d expect from a classic Korean snack shop — and the menu is impressively wide. You can order everything from jjajangmyeon and jjamppong to staples like tteokbokki and kimbap, all in one place. I went with the Donkatsu + Jjolmyeon Combo ($33.98) and was honestly blown away by the portion size. The donkatsu comes as two cutlets the size of your face, served with cabbage salad, potato salad, macaroni salad, and a big bowl of sweet demi-glace sauce. The jjolmyeon was just as over the top — it arrived in a basin-sized bowl piled with noodles, cabbage, and cucumber. They even give you gloves to mix it because chopsticks alone wouldn’t get the job done. One highlight was the gimmari (fried seaweed rolls). They didn’t taste like the usual store-bought version, so I asked — and the manager explained that aside from the pickled radish, most of the food here, including the kimchi and gimmari, is made in-house. That really sets this place apart. The food isn’t necessarily “the best ever,” but it absolutely delivers that nostalgic snack-shop taste from school days, with huge portions and solid value. Perfect for families, especially if you’ve got kids with...
Read moreFood: portions do look huge but I don’t know if anyone has realized that it was due to all the vegetables added on main dish and side stuffs they put on the plate. Taste-was netural Jaeyook Dupbob was too too sweet and not much of spicy flavor of hot pepper wasn’t there. Combo dish with spicy spaghetti and hamburger steak was too salty and there were no spicy flavor there. It tasted like red tomato sauce mixed with white cream sauce. And mozzarella cheese on hamburger steak was really salty. Another combo dish with ribeye chopped steak and crabmeat dora was alright. Crabmeat dora had unexpected spicy kick which was good. However, ribeye wasn’t that soft to chew. Service: overall, they were okay. I could have given more stars if one of the waitress (oldest lady) hasn’t give me that look when we asked for the leftovers to be packed. Only reason I have packed the leftovers were because I do not like to see food being wasted especially if they were paid for. However, After getting that look, I wasn’t sure if I should have brought back...
