I want to like this place because it's got such a great location, likely the best view in Flagler County (along with Captain's BBQ), but the food just does not cut it and the service also lacks - dare I say it - integrity! I rarely give restaurants bad reviews but here it goes...
My first visit for Mother's Day two years ago was a bust - everything was either cold or overcooked, but I chalked it up to a bad night. I tried it again with family on October 5 and here was my experience and everything we ordered: • 1 sticky rib appetizer: dry. We ate one of three ribs. We told the waitress they were dry. Her response was, "I'm sorry about that, it's not usually like that." No offer to take it off the check or get us another order. She just cleared the plate. $18.00 • 1 She crab soup: good. $10.00 • 1 Shrimp and grits: this plate costs $38, (for grits and 5 or 6 small shrimp) came on a small plate maybe a little larger than a bread plate, and is supposed to have andouille sausage in it but I only found one piece the size of a pea. The taste was good but the price was crazy for the portion. The meal wasn't quite hot. I mentioned this to the waitress. At this point she seemed somewhat annoyed. • 12 oysters: this was the best part of the meal which is saying a lot since there was no cooking involved. It also came after the shrimp and grits - not sure what happened there, but oysters should come first, that's a basic. $50.00 • Two salads - one with added chicken, one with added shrimp. Both the shrimp and chicken were overcooked and dry. The chicken went untouched. We told the waitress. $18.00 each salad • 1 Tito's Vodka martini: good. $18. • 1 cappuccino: Not well made. Milk was bubbly, not smooth. Learn how to make a cappuccino if that's what you're selling and pricing it $8.50! Ha! Then on top of it all, the bill came with a $4.78 credit card surcharge. I had to call over the manager and say something, because this restaurant is supposed to be a high end experience, so he needed to know that something is going on in the kitchen because nearly every single dish was improperly cooked. I was very polite because I am very polite, and because I am a respectful person. He did not offer to take anything off the bill - not one thing. He did not offer us a free dessert. He did not even offer to put the $8.50 coffee on the house. That is poor service. Honestly, it's unimaginable. We should not have to tell the waitress AND the manager that there are problems across multiple dishes, and get nothing to compensate for the inconvenience of paying a sh*tload of money for the quality of food that was served. The bill for what I just mentioned...
Read moreMy family had an outing as we were on a vacation trip. We visited the European Village, so we decided to stop at the Atlantic Grille Oceanfront Restaurant after a great day of shopping and spending time with each other.
We had 24 people in our group, so we attempted to call ahead and give them notification that we were on the way. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by the manager, who immediately told us they were full and had no seating available. It took one of ther servers to say they had room available on the back side of the restaurant. He then asked if we checked the availability at another restaurant. We responded that we had not. Then he told us it would be an hour wait. It actually only took 15 minutes to get tables ready to accommodate everyone.
We were seated, but realized that there were 3 people that did not have a seat. The server told us that she would move another table over in our area to accommodate the last 3 customers. My cousin told her that she did not have to physically move the table, and he and another family member would help her move it. Immediately the manager walked and caused a scene. He was sternly telling our table that we had 30 people in the party and that they could not accommodate our party. My cousin attempted to explain that he was only trying to help the server, but he thought we were just adding more people to our party.
After that confrontation, our family decided to leave because we had been disrespected from the beginning. What was even more frustrating is they decided to call the police to the premises when we decided to peacefully leave before we even had a chance to order any food. They really missed out on some good business, and even worse, our family had to witness some disrespectful behavior from the manager (name unknown). And yes, we also had kids with us to witness this...
Read moreWe go to Hammock beach every summer with our family & always eat at Atlantic Grille multiple times during our stay. On Saturday, July 3 I knew they’d be all booked up but I called to find out if outdoor seating was first come first serve. I was told yes. Unbeknownst to me, my boyfriend proposed to me on the same day probably around 7:00pm or so out on the lawn. We headed to Atlantic grille to have dinner & celebrate. We tried to snag one of the several empty tables outside (two were still dirty but there was a large one to fit our party & it was perfectly clean right outside the doors by the bar). The 2 hostesses/possible 1 manager would not allow it. Our friend was trying to find out why & finally after 15 minutes, we were able to sit at that table. During this process, my 7 year old becomes impatient & is crying bc he’s so thirsty. I go to the bar, wait until the bartender asks me how she can help etc (I did not call for her or interrupt her in any way- I waited until she came to me), I ask for a sprite & she says “you’ll have a server shortly”. Mind you, we hadn’t even all been sat yet. I said “oh..can I just have a sprite? He’s crying bc he’s so thirsty”. She said “well I have lots of orders in front of you”. I was mind blown. We felt COMPLETELY unwanted. It ruined my night when I should’ve been celebrating my engagement. All we could talk about was how terrible they made us feel. We will continue our annual trips to the resort but won’t be returning to this...
