Despicable service - child and senior citizen. "Call ahead seating"
My mom was in town for the weekend so we checked out the restaurant on Saturday afternoon to return for breakfast Sunday morning. The woman there, presumably the owner, advised to call ahead for seating. Great!
10:10 Sunday morning I called 40 minutes ahead of time, had a minute-long conversation with Brian, advising we'd be there just before 11. We arrived hungry at 10:50 to find he had not written our name down, so he added our party of three to the bottom of the list. It was jam-packed, primetime, standing room only. It was 35 degrees outside so I let my six year old and my mother who has a bad hip stand inside. I waited outside 20 minutes and stood another 15 minutes inside once some people cleared out. We ordered within 5 minutes of being seated and it took another 30 minutes for food to arrive. In other words, from the time I called it took 1 hour and 50 minutes until our food arrived. Alternatively, we waited more than an hour after we realized he screwed up.
My complaint is that Brian didn't offer a seat or even so much as an orange or some juice to tide my daughter over for his error, much less do anything to inquire or verify once I said "I spoke to Brian" or make it a priority. His only response was that he was the person I spoke to on the phone.
The food quality, ambiance, service would have been more than adequate, but for the price of bullshit, who wants it? I accept that errors happen, but do something to reddress it at any point! I waited to see if the bill would be discounted or they'd make some offer. It didn't happen which is why, specifically, I decided to write this review. Maybe they'll reconsider and I'll edit. Otherwise, if you call ahead, expect it will be meaningless. And bring something to eat...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI used to love The Breakfast Table until my last experience. My family had been traveling for up to 10hrs and all we wanted was to eat breakfast. We arrived at the restaurant at 1:45 and they close at 2:00pm. I wouldāve been completely fine if the staff refused to seat us because it was so close to closing BUT instead the hostess sat us down, rolled her eyes, and the waiting staff started to complain about us not even FOUR FEET AWAY from our table! They were also completely rude with taking our drinks. My family and I felt completely uncomfortable and just told the staff to forget our drinks and left.
As a person who has worked in the restaurant world for over Six years I was highly disappointed. As someone who understands what itās like to not only be a customer but also a waitress you never treat customers like that. If the staff was tired and didnāt want to serve then donāt seat us itās that simple. Instead of making the customers feel horrible for even coming in.
I will no longer be going to The Breakfast Table again and will no longer recommend it to anyone who wants breakfast in the Lehigh Valley Area due to this horrible...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI'm not sure why so many customers who have or continue to visit find the little breakfast eatery so good. The coffee is nothing special, on the weak side. No robust flavor......just about O.K. The inside eating area is on the dark side, especially when the outside weather is all clouds outside. Without LED brighter bulbs in the high-hat ceiling lights, the atmosphere is off and not inviting. The scrapple taste is O.K., unfortunately nothing of a good taste. I am not into a thin, thin slice then deep fried. Takes away any inhanced flavor of scrapple. The waitress and employees were especially nice and were always walking to refill customers coffee mugs. Something most other breakfast places fail to do. I was hoping to find an above average breakfast place I could consider my hang out but after the basics I experienced, unfortunately I won't...
