With a doubt one the best bagel shops in the Bay. In my opinion, leaps and bounds better than Izzy’s. They are always super friendly, super fast and polite. I started going there frequently while I was pregnant. One of the few restaurants my stomach could handle. Now I bring my baby girl in and each time she’s instantly greeted with a free mini bagel much to her delight (and ours)! They don’t skimp on ingredients or toppings. We’ve never had a bad experience. You really can’t go wrong but they do have a pretty amazing Lox sandwich.

House of Bagels is a must-visit spot for bagel lovers in Palo Alto. Whether you're in the mood for a classic plain bagel or something more adventurous, you're sure to find something you love at this bakery. They also offer a variety of spreads and toppings to accompany them, such as cream cheese, lox, and fresh vegetables. The staff is always friendly and helpful, and the service is quick and efficient. The bakery has a warm and inviting atmosphere, with plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors.

What a great bagel shop! I have heard that there is more than one house of bagels location and I can only comment on this location. The service that I get has always been spot on. I've never had a issue with an order I placed there and I have been going to the Palo Alto location for 5 years. The staff are very kind and helpful, and the bagels are made fresh in the giant oven everyday. I recommend you check this out if you're in the area and seeking a tasty snack or meal.

Don’t support this business. I ordered a ham and cream cheese bagel and the cashier charged me $11.85 when it should have been around $6. I asked her if the price was correct and she said yes so I bought it but then later when I double checked the menu it said a cream cheese bagel is $4.25 and ham is $2, so my total should have been $6.25. When I asked if I could get my money back the cashier was extremely rude and she laughed at me and told me it was my fault because I should have worded my order differently, mind you I didn’t receive a more expensive order so clearly what I ordered was clear to who made my bagel. She told me she wouldn’t help me so I waited 20 minutes for the manager to come in and during this time she came over to my table and THREW AWAY my receipt that was on my table. When the manager came in he was also incredibly unhelpful and proceeded to hold up two different portions of ham and say that's why I was charged so much, when no where on the menu does it say it’s $6 for extra ham and I also didn’t even get extra ham. He was saying that the price of this bagel should have been $12, referencing his “30 years of different house of bagels experience” when I told him I’ve never payed more then $6 for this order at numerous house of bagel locations. He refused to give me my money back until I threatened to call the police. I didn’t want to make a big deal out of this situation but im a college student and every dollar matters, and the way I was treated was disgusting. They tried to take advantage of me and were so rude that I ended up in tears when I was rightly trying to get my money back for the order they overcharged me for. The worst customer experience I’ve ever had and I will never support this bagel...

this is the worst bagel place i've ever been to. I got overcharged 6 dollars for a bagel and they refused to give me my money back for nearly an hour. I asked politely multiple times and just wanted to get out of there and go about the rest of my day but the employees refused, and were arguing with me and even laughed at me and rolled their eyes. I finally had to ask for them to bring their manager to talk to me because the conversation was going no where, and received impoliteness from the manager as well with him arguing with me also. This was a very simple and straight forward ask, when you get overcharged you should receive a refund. They proceeded to tell me I asked for a ham sandwich which is why I got overcharged and that there's two "portions of ham" and I got the bigger portion which led to the cost being higher. All i asked for was a bagel with cream cheese and ham on it, nothing else. The menu clearly stated ham is a 2.50 extra charge which should make my bagel come out to 6 dollars not 12. I finally received my money back in cash after nearly an hour and the manager still made it seem like this was my fault and said that I should of worded my order differently and that he's making an exception this time. Worst customer service i've experienced in a really long time, never coming back here again, Wasted an hour of my day and was treated...

Unfortunately I didn't get to try one of the bagels. I came here for my first time this past Saturday and was helped by a man who was just having an awful day apparently. Upon reading other reviews maybe he's just awful at customer service for no reason. My fiance was trying to order a custom bagel sandwich due to allergies but he's looked at us strangely as if it were a weird request and has never heard of a bagel with cream cheese spread for a sandwich. He was completely rude to my fiance. Hugfing and puffing and rolling his eyes evertime he asked a question or everytime she talked. When it was my turn to order I asked if they would be able to make the egg over easy for my sandwich. I received a response of "huh, what is that?" I said "sunny side up, runny yolk" and he still looked at me blankly and defensively said "idk what you want!! We have a scrambled egg sandwich?" It would have been fine if he just said he didn't and they only had scrambled, however he made a scene over a simple question in front of a bunch of customers. I politely declined service at this point since he was rude to both my fiance and I. But that wasn't enough, he had to get the last word and say "that's fine, it's better that way." We just walked away. But wait there's more! As we were walking out the doors he said "good!!! We refuse service!!!" Not a way to...
