Strange Brew Cafe — Restaurant in Palos Township

I liked coming to this coffee shop due to its aesthetic, atmosphere and because I want to support small businesses. However, over the past several months or so it has been downgrading. My biggest concern was the costumer service I would received every single time I visited. The staff is not friendly and lacks basic courtesy. For example, I ordered an ice latte and was given a hot coffee and after bringing that to their attention, I got attitude and eye rolling from the employee without an apology. Every single time I visited this shop I would always experience rudeness and attitude from most of their employees despite being a polite costumer who leaves tips even for take out. I kept coming back because of the food and coffee. However, recently when I came and ordered an ice latte, I was given an ice coffee instead which tasted like dirt. I didn’t even say anything to them because of how I was treated in the past. This morning I stopped by for coffee and ordered an iced latte. Upon getting my coffee I saw big white chunks in the coffee so I told the employee that I think the whole milk is spoiled and she replied that “it is not spoiled and that the milk doesn’t mix well with the coffee in the lattes” and walked away. So I tried it…. after only taking a small sip I knew it was spoiled….. so I told the employee that I tried it and it’s spoiled and she continued to tell me that “ she just opened the milk which was taken out of the freezer and that it’s not defrosted all the way and kept denying that the milk is spoiled”. She was giving attitude and gave no apology and I had to ask for a new coffee because it was not offered by her. After she remade it, she just dropped it off without saying anything and when I said thank you she didn’t even reply…. I never leave reviews… but I just had to this time… I hope it is read and the owner addresses those issues and educates his staff because no one deserves service like that nor poor quality of...

Y’all in the reviews gotta be lying or you let the atmosphere dominate ur opinion about the place. Specifically the COFFEE but I’ll get to that later. Atmosphere is fine it’s ur typical semi-hip cafe. A little lower end imo but it’s a small business so I get it. Food is fine. It’s pretty hard to mess up toast so I don’t got much to say besides some of their smoothie bowl bases are bland and too icy. Now… the coffee. Just to clarify, I enjoy coffee a lot. I consider myself decently skilled at making a good espresso shot or pour over coffee. I’d definitely say it’s one of my passion or hobby at least. Strangebrews coffee has to be in my top worst coffee I’ve had other than ashbary, generally starbucks, or dunkin. I really enjoy coffee and espresso, so when I ordered a basic iced latte with whole milk and a tiny amount it sweetener I was genuinely baffled by what I got. My friend laughed at it too lol. Strangebrews coffee is consistently bad so I genuinely think the espresso in general sucks and it just wasn’t a bad day. I’ve never had a latte with WHOLE MILK, look like an Americano. It tasted like watered down coffee. It was almost like they reused an old espresso shot or something because of how it basically tasted like water. And it was my order I didn’t accidentally grab another but I was just shocked at how the coffee tasted like nothing 😭 there are so many coffee places nearby that have decently quality coffee/espresso. Strangebrew really needs to catch up on it because they’re lagging. I don’t go there anymore cause I think the coffee is bad. If I’m buying a 6 dollar coffee, I want it to taste good lol. Fun to chill in with friends though I guess. Smoothies are good. Customer service is nothing impressive. First time for everything, right? That's what trying new places is all about. Today, I was having a taste for some coffee, I'm not a big coffee fien, but I wanted to look for a new place, and this one caught my eye. I arrived there and, at first glance, was confused about where it was until walking up further to the door. I walked in and was greeted from a far. The place looked like a messy college lounging area. Atmosphere felt unwanted, like in the wild west movies where the cowboy enters a new part of town and enters a saloon and gets the downright meanest dirtiest looks. Yeah, It felt like that. Only two people were serving. It wasn't too busy there. I didn't know what exactly what I was gonna get. No introduction to the place, for example. " Hi, welcome to so, and so what can I get you? If you have any questions, feel free to ask. " I got a cappuccino. The "person" who took my not trying to be disrespectful but didn't sound too enthusiastic about my order. I dont know if i was being racially profiled, After that, I waited for my order, and when I got it, the coffee was too hot to taste. I went back home and tried it and was EXTREMELY DISSATISFIED. The coffee didn't taste like anything remotely close to a cappuccino. It's more like watered-down coffee with not even a little bit of sugar. I fixed it sorta. It's alright, I guess, but I mean, I wouldn't be getting any more coffee from there. And if the coffee was bad, I'm pretty sure the food is just as bad...
