Golden Dragon — Restaurant in Paris

Poor even for Paris… Tuesday night about 45 degrees outside…. When we walk in it feels about the same temperature as outside… we are so cold we choose to keep our jackets on… very few people inside but the phone is ringing of the hook for to go orders. When we take a seat a 9 year old girl takes our drink order. We are waiting for a few and I notice that the adult at the counter is taking phone orders….. no one came to take our order…so, I walk up and place my order. In most Chinese restaurants your soup and egg rolls come before your main dish….not so here… they brought everything at the same time. Everything is packaged in to go. Very odd for a sit down restaurant. The egg drop soup was thick and looked like snot. I didn’t try it as it looked gross. The wife said..I’m not eating that!…The egg roll was a little overcooked but okay. The fried rice was bland and the worst fried rice I’ve ever had. The main dishes were beef and broccoli and General tso’s chicken. The beef was really chewy and didn’t taste like beef more of a mystery meat. The chicken was mostly dough….I cut up several and had fun finding the meat….in some cases I was unable to find any chicken at all… maybe they should call it chicken flavor Doug balls…. The question is….why are...

We stopped in for lunch to celebrate my daughter's birthday and wish we'd have walked out before they finally brought our food. We were the only customers in the restaurant and had to wait 20 minutes before being served anything. The teenager who had taken our order went outside to play with her sister while we watched and waited for our food. We had ordered hot tea but were given nothing while we waited. Finally, our order was delivered by someone from the kitchen in Styrofoam containers. No hot tea. It was on our ticket which we pointed out to the server who then brought the tea. The food was adequate, basic Chinese food. But even my fortune cookie was missing the fortune! Not that I really cared, but it seemed a fitting conclusion to our experience there.

this is best chinese food hands down in Paris TN. I end up spending $60+ when we eat take out from Golden Dragon. The house special lo-mein is soooo tasty & the house special fried rice is too. I've known these folks (Will & Ivy) & their parents when they started out across from from the old city auditorium for years & they've always treated me very well. If you order take out & leave a tip they fill container soooo full that you can't hardly get the lid off. Man...I'm getting hungry thinking bout that lo-mein & those FAT egg rolls right now as I type & ordering is soooo easy online!! Gonna have to have some more!! P.S. I would add pics but it ain't around long enough...
