My wife and I have been longtime T&L's customers, since 2016. We usually order pizza and dessert two to three times a month. We always tip 20% to 25%. Please see my original review below from a while back.
Something has changed over the last couple months. The last two times we ordered, our order was late by at least 10 to 15 minutes. Our pizza was lukewarm. Our frozen desserts were messy and melty, but not completely melted.
Because this is a longtime local business, although with multiple owners, we let it slide. However, tonight was too much. It used to be if they said the order would be delivered in 30 minutes, it would arrive in 20. They always delivered on time or way earlier. Tonight, I was told 45 minutes. At 50 minutes, I called to check. An older woman answered. No apologies. Just said the delivery guy had four pizzas to deliver and he should be here soon.
At 65 minutes, I called again, got the same lady, and said I'm canceling. The order was twenty minutes late, taking into consideration the condition of my food the last two times, the lack of apologies for lateness, I was just done. I was polite on the phone, told her my concerns from the last couple times, and she said he has a cooler for the desserts and the pizza should be hot. She said he should be here any minute and asked me to check the items when they arrive. I just said okay, but I was hungry and done at this point.
He arrived ten whole minutes later and I told him while he was still at his vehicle I'm canceling and why. He, the driver, was apologetic and explained he's the only driver tonight. I told him I'm sorry but I just couldn't wait that long.
So let's think this through. T&L's - What happened? New management? New owners? Something has changed. You've been hiring the last couple years, per a sign, every time I drive by. I would highly advise paying a bit more to get some people in to work for you. The product is very reasonably priced, and an increase in pay/price for better service and product is fine.
Your delivery people have not been keeping your hot food hot and cold food cold. Either they are failing at it, or your devices are failing.
Be up front and honest with your customers like you have in the past. Over-quote the delivery time. You're a local business. Your customers will understand if you can't deliver in a reasonable time frame and they will come back. But when you consistently under-quote the delivery time, like has happened to me the last three times, and then the product arrives late and not at an appropriate temperature, you'll lose customers.
When a customer calls and is saying something is wrong, apologize. Customer service first. I've been in customer service since I was 15 when I began delivering the Waterloo Courier. I'm now 42. The customer is NOT always right, but when they are, take care of them. Secondly, make it right. I was polite and to the point. All I got was "he'll be there". Yeah, but not even close to the time promised. Apologize and take care of me. I'm not asking for anything free, but if I was offered a piping hot pizza replacement next time I ordered and perfect dessert as if I was eating in, I would have accepted.
Maybe I'll try again. Maybe I won't. I'm not going to say I'm going to Casey's either. They're disgusting. I guess it's DiGiorno for us indefinitely.

Best pizza and ice cream desserts on the planet! I especially love their taco pizza. I've been buying from here for years. The staff, whether teenagers or adults, are great with their customer service skills. This place is a must-visit. T&L's is mostly take-out with no indoor seating, but a tiny bit of outdoor seating. Visit with plans to take your order home or call...
Read moreI have passed by this place many times while driving through Parkersburg on my way to Big Marsh wildlife management area. We live about 25 minutes away in Wellsburg. Tonight, we decided to try somewhere we had not gone before, and this pizza place came to mind. The pizza was excellent! Everything about it was good. The crust was really good, delicious sauce, generous cheese and toppings. It was baked to perfection, and we enjoyed it on the open-air picnic bench outside the building. We topped it off with a hot fudge sundae which was also excellent. We will definitely be coming back for pizza...
Read moreThis place was a pleasant surprise to be sure.
The prices are easy on the wallet.
The staff is great.
The ice cream is too.
But the best part of this place is their pizza.
Now that Bill's Smokehouse and Pizza closed in Independence and Smokin' Oak Pizza in Cedar Falls closed... T&L's Pizza is the best pizza on the Cedar Valley and worth the drive from Cedar Falls.
T&L pizza puts all others to shame, including The O.P.
Do your taste buds and wallet a favor and drive to Parkersburg for the pizza here.
Then have some ice cream...
