Anne Arundel Seafood has definitely went downhill and is nothing like it was years ago. The food is mediocre at best and overpriced for what you get. Crabcakes were small and more filler than crabmeat, honestly the worst I've ever had. The Fried Oysters were mostly breading and flavorless. The potato salad was bland and the macaroni salad was just okay. The desserts were good but overpriced for such a small slice of cake. Ordering can be confusing as there are two separate areas separate areas whether you are getting cooked, steamed or raw. The teenage cashier wasn't pleasant and very rushy, my family & I were standing a ways back from the counter leaving plenty of room for anyone who came in and was ready to order to go ahead of us. It was very clear that we were looking at the menu and we were showing my MIL the paper menu yet the boy behind the counter kept asking if we were ready every 15 seconds. When our order was called I went up to the counter and I had my hand on the counter with my bank card clearly visible while waiting for my total and the same teenage boy that took our order said in a rude tone "You know you still have to pay". The tables are very close together and if you sit at the tables with actual chairs the people at the table behind you are pretty much on top of you, leaving no room for you push your chair out a bit in order to stand up. One of the workers was asked to turn the ceiling fan off by the people at table behind us and he stood on table top to do so and when he got down didn't even have the courtesy to clean and wipe down or even offer to clean where he just had his dirty shoes. Our dining experience was a huge disappointment and needless to say we won't be returning or recommending. If you want good seafood and service this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThey used to be so much better, and for a place in Marylandāa state that prides itself on Chesapeake Bay crabs and top-tier seafoodāthatās a tough pill to swallow. Iāve been coming here for thirty years, and back then, it felt like they embodied everything Maryland is known for when it comes to seafood. Now? Itās hit-or-miss.
I got the steamed shrimp recently, and while they were decent, sometimes theyāre just mushy, like theyāve lost that fresh, straight-from-the-Bay quality. That inconsistency stings, especially in a place thatās supposed to set the standard.
The vibe on the to-go side doesnāt help. The older staff seem worn out, like theyāve been here as long as the Bay itself. Maybe theyāve been at it too long, and itās taken the joy out of it. On the dine-in side, though, the younger staff are brighter, friendlierāit feels lighter over there, like they still believe in the Maryland seafood legacy.
That said, there are still flashes of greatness. Their crab fluff is everything youād hope for from a place with Chesapeake rootsārich, indulgent, and perfectly balanced. And when the steamed crabs are good, theyāre phenomenal, the kind of crabs that remind you why Maryland has such a reputation. But then there are the off days, where the crabs just donāt deliver, and itās like the pride of the Bay didnāt make it to the plate.
Itās heartbreaking for a Marylander. Weāre supposed to hold our own when it comes to seafood. I used to rave about this placeāa solid 10 out of 10, or at least an 8 on a bad day. Now, I canāt say that anymore. The magic of Marylandās Chesapeake heritage feels like itās slipping through their fingers, and thatās...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am from Atlanta and I am very proud of my southern roots and very proud of our southern cuisine and culture. The way Atlantans fry fish-it has to be hot and it has to be crunchy crispy! Well I have been in Baltimore since 2016 and I can tell you now that I have not found a restaurant, a quick stop, a hip hop, or NOTHING that has come as close to a good home backyard fish fry like this place! I ordered fried Haddock and the jumbo shrimp with coleslaw (southerners donāt eat everybodyās coleslaw) and fries. Wow! I am telling you that this was the best fried fish Iāve had since I left Atlanta. It was Awesome!!! I could not put it down nor did I slow down enough to take a sip of anything-next time Iāll order a cold beer. The coleslaw was sweet with crisp cabbage and the temp was cold as coleslaw should be. I have never seen jumbo shrimp the way AAS cooks itā¦man! You can have the shrimp alone and be very satisfied. The fries were.. eh. Typical for fries everywhere, so I wasnāt looking to be impressed in this category. But that Haddock was a winner- fresh not fishy, piping hot, crispy and crunchy, meaty- I mean a good meaty, white fish. Tartar sauce was creamy and the hot sauce just right. I will definitely dine here again! And again! My only concern is that the picnic tables should be wiped down consistently, especially serving seafood. I didnāt see a large waitstaff or maybe have sanitizing solution readily available to wipe down tables-maybe they do but I didnāt see any. The price was a little high for this type of establishment, meaning itās not a 5-star restaurant but the quality of food...
