Mom's 90th birthday!!
This post is by no means an insult to the owners Lorena and Jorge, just their manager on 7-12-2024.
A few days ago my sister called the restaurant (Deeds) and tried to make a reservation for a party of nine. (It is hard for my mother to wait for a seat at 90 years old, she has some health problems). The hostess told my sister that they do not take reservations but as long as somebody in the party showed up about 15 to 20 minutes before the party arrived that they would prepare a table for us. So my sister my wife and I if we could arrive 15 to 20 minutes early and ask them to get a table ready for our party at 9.
My wife and I showed up to the restaurant 20 minutes early and told the host that we had a party of nine coming at 6pm and could you please prepare a table. He proceeded to tell us that in order for them to prepare a table for a party of 9 that at least half the party had to be there. It wasn't like the restaurant was crowded, there was probably 50 to 60 open seats between the inside and the outside seating. I then proceeded to explain to the man (probably 22-23 years old) that this was for my mom's 90th birthday and that I guarantee our party will be arriving, and that just a few days ago the hostess on duty told us to just arrive 15 minutes early and ask to have a table made up so that our mother wouldn't have to wait. He adamantly denied us a table until at least 1/2 of our party was there. Then I asked him if I could if we could speak to the manager and that's when he told us "I am the manager". I told him, thanks a lot, turned around and we left. There was no way that my wife and I we're going to wait for the rest of our party to arrive and then have this person put our table together and pay at the end of the evening. My attitude was not feeling this restuarant anymore. Nor will I ever set foot in this establishment again. We have been here for close to 50 breakfast meals and many dinners in the past. Until this manager leaves or is terminated we'll never return. This is unfortunate for the owners to have employes of this caliber. This is not some exclusive country club in Bel-Aire. It's basically a coffee shop that has pretty good food and a nice bar. I don't care what their policies are. For paying customers, you might want to listen a little closer and leaving by your restuarant 101 Bible at home if you expect to retain customers.
Lorena and Jorge, again no disrespect to either of you, but I do feel you may want to vet your managers a bit more. Regardless of what your policies may...
Read moreThe experience at Deeds Bar & Grill on Sunday for football was truly remarkable. My daughter and I were in search of a venue that would provide us with the chance to watch out-of-market NFL games on Sunday Ticket during the morning sessions. As fans of the Philadelphia Eagles living in California, it is imperative for us to be able to watch our team emerge victorious on football Sundays. This establishment not only met but surpassed our expectations during our initial visit. Inside and outside the bar, you’ll find a total of 14 large screen TVs. You have the opportunity to watch every NFL game on Sundays, Mondays, and Thursdays during football season, whether you’re seated at the bar or at the dining tables around the outside of the bar. The morning games kick off at 10AM PST, and the restaurant is buzzing with NFL fans enjoying great food, drinks, and fun with family and friends. The Bar & Grill was filled with NFL fans, including supporters of the Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers, San Francisco 49ers, Detroit Lions, New Orleans Saints and many more. We enthusiastically supported our teams, enjoying good, clean family fun. The morning menu is available until 11:30AM PST, ideal for the 10AM PST football games while savoring a Breakfast Burrito and Breakfast Bowl with a refreshing Corona and lime. We had to order lunch for our golf tee time at 2PM PST since the game would end at 1:00PM PST. Once the NFL game reached half time, we ordered the Tuna Melt, Tuna Wrap, Chicken Caesar salad and Coconut Shrimp to go. We had such an incredible experience that we will definitely return. Big thank you...
Read moreDEED’S BAR AND GRILL Several times a year our couples golf group drive up from Arroyo Grande to play golf and have lunch. Last week we invited a new couple to our group and raved about the golf course and the great restaurant. After playing golf, we entered the restaurant and asked for a table of 8 (4 couples). I asked the Manager if separate checks would be an option. To my embarrassment, the Manager immediately said “no, for a table of 8 we only accept three credit cards or cash with one bill.” We then asked the waitress and she looked rather shyly and said, “I’ll have to ask the Manager.” In the past, this was not an issue and we always had competent, willing staff who would give each couple a bill and we would always, in turn, give a hefty tip. By the way, it’s not like the restaurant was super busy; otherwise, that could have/would have been an excuse. I am not sure why 3 credit cards with one bill as opposed to 4 credits cards with 4 bills would have been such an inconvenience—you have a capable staff. In fact, it took us quite a while to figure out the bill what with some having drinks and some not having drinks—you know how that goes!) In the end, we all just put in the same amount (using cash only!). No one in the group was happy about this new arrangement. Sadly, next time, we may consider going into town for our luncheon and by-pass...
