I've been to P-Town pizza twice in the last 5 weeks. My first visit, I was extremely happy with the food, the service, the atmosphere and the company of my 76-year-old friend from Pawhuska. For starter, we split an order of LADD’S CHOPPED WEDGE salad. Their portions are huge so it can easily be split between two people. We also ordered their Not Knots which are to die for. I've never sunk my teeth in anything so satisfyingly delicious—crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. They were deliciously bathed in their garlic and basil/parsley olive oil and grated parmesan cheese. These were served with a variety of red and white sauces, which I never used because I wanted to savor the flavor on its own. You can't go to P-Town Pizza and not try the Not Knots. For pizza, I ordered the Fig & Prosciutto which was delicious. It was generously topped with fresh arugula. I wish it had one more slice of prosciutto and a couple more pieces of figs to make the flavor pop. My friend ordered the veggie pizza that came beautifully presented with lots of color and she thoroughly enjoyed it too!
The second time I went was with my husband who's never been and he was delighted as much as I was on my first visit. Before I met my husband, he lived in Italy for a few years, and yes, he could be a bit of a pizza snob, and rightfully so. For many years, I've lived in a part of Ontario Canada where Europeans are thick and extremely proud of their culture/food. I must admit, I too am a bit of a pizza snob. Since we moved to Oklahoma, we've been searching for a good place for authentic pizza, and we're excited we discovered P-Town Pizza. Their pizza come close to the authentic Italian pizza we've had in Italy. The only negative thing I can say about my second visit was, their Not Knots were not as crispy as the first ones I've had. They were still good and packed with flavor but were missing the crisp-to-the-bite.They were somewhat disappointingly spongy even as we sat at our table. The ones I had on my first visit stayed crispy even after it's been refrigerated. Perhaps, I can ask them to make it crispier on my next visit.
If you haven't tried P-Town Pizza, you're missing out. The atmosphere in quite warm and the staff is courteous and...
Read moreMy husband and I decided to ride from OKC to Osage County and check out Pawhuska while there. Needless to say after a 2.5 hr ride neither one of us wanted to wait 2 hrs for a table at the Mercantile so we decided to try P-Town Pizza. We were quoted a 30 minute wait time and after 40 mins not receiving a text we checked to see if they had forgotten about us. From the street I could see 5 tables open outside and I had asked for first available. I was told they hadn't forgotten about us and after waiting 10 more minutes our table was ready. We walked up stairs and after looking lost and heading towards the dining room a bartender came to greet us and then a server brought us to our table. We were sat in the main dining room, where only 2 other tables had patrons, outside now only 1 table with patrons remained. Our server took our drink order and since we knew what we wanted; the not knots, steakhouse pizza, and BlackBerry lemonade, our food order as well. Here is where the wait really bothered both of us. After waiting 50 mins to get in, it took another 20 minutes to get our waters and lemonades. It was not busy at all, so I don't understand why this took so long. There were 2 waitstaff on the floor, 2 bussers, and 2 people working the bar/floor. The restaurant had 6 tables of 2-5 people being served at this time. We were sat first, yet other tables received drinks before we did. As far as the food was concerned, the not knots were delicious, the steakhouse pizza was mediocre and the lemonade was super tart. It was also pretty loud in there for not being so busy, and Jerry Springer (tacky) was showing on two of the t.v.s. I loved the quaintness of the town, walking around was the highlight of the visit. Osage County is a beautiful area to ride your motorcycles too as well. We enjoyed our day visit, but would probably pack a lunch if we decide to head...
Read moreWhat a huge disappointment! My husband and I with our adult son drove straight from AZ to stop for pizza at P-town, Pawhuska on June 30, 2020. This was a planed stop before resting for the night in a near by hotel on the way to Chicago. We visited P-town pizza in Fall of 2018 and had a great experience. I called ahead and asked how long it would take to have our pizza ready for a curbside pickup. It was told it would take 25 minutes. When we were 30 minutes away, around 8:00pm, I called and ordered. I told our pizza will be ready in 25 minutes and to call as soon as pull up front. We were there in exactly 25 minutes and I called. We waited and waited and waited. This now 50 minutes from the time I called order in when someone showed up with our order. We were so hungry and tired and couldn’t wait to enjoy it but we did not. Let’s start with Caesar salad. It was overdressed mess with not a speckle of green, like head lettuce not romaine. The steakhouse pizza was covered with overcooked thinly sliced beef (like shaved beef in Philly steak sandwich), grey and unappetizing. The Steakhouse pizza we had on our first visit was topped with delicious sliced real medium-rare steak. The fig and prosciutto - a lot of sweet spread with barley any prosciutto and not much arugula to off set the sweetness. It tastes horrible. The Pizza- ree-a was not much better. It had very few tomatoes and not any fresh basil like online photos show and did not taste very good. The Not Knots were only good thing. They deserve a star. This was the worst meal we paid over $80 for. I would never, ever recommend this out of way stop to anyone. We were planing on come back for breakfast and bakery next day to bring baked good to the family but decided, it just was not worth second disappointment. It’s obvious that things here have changed and quality and “Wow” factor no longer consideration....
