We went in around 7pm the Sunday before Memorial Day with a couple of friends and our two young children. We figured it would be busy and tried to adjust our expectations but it was a completely terrible experience from the get-go. We were told a 20-25 minute wait and 45 minutes in, with several empty tables in view, my husband went to check and they had forgotten to seat us.
We were seated, gave our drink order and the waiter didn’t return for 20 minutes to take our order. After he did take the order, and hour and a half later (after being assured several times that our food would be arriving soon and after seeing several other tables seated after us getting their food and leaving), my husband was told our food was 2nd in line to be put on the grill. At this point, we told the waiter to cancel our order because we had to get our kids out of there.
The manager then came over and explained why the tables all around us, who had all been seated after we placed our order, had all gotten their food well before us. Explanation: because they ordered seafood, which “takes less time to cook than what we ordered”…shrimp tacos and shrimp fajitas among other simple items such as a child’s taco with ground beef and lettuce. It was “too late to cancel our order”. We then asked for it to go. 10-15 minutes later part of our order arrived with flaming hot plates that had clearly been under a heat lamp, followed by sizzling fajita plate placed directly in front of my 1.5 year old son. Thankfully I jerked him out of the way in time to avert a burn. I had to ask for to go boxes again at that point.
To top it all off, when we got home my husband realized his fajita wasn’t cooked through.
I’ve worked in many restaurants in my life. I know holiday weekends suck. The kitchen is overloaded. But even taking that into account, I would never return to this place. At least box up our food for us after having to wait 1.5 hours for partially cooked meals.
And heads up to any boaters who come in to drink here and go back out on the lake, I think every boat that pulled out while we were waiting to be seated was pulled over by the police.
And possibly a holiday weekend thing, but there were a lot of smashed beer bottles and empty margarita glasses abandoned around the property. Not child friendly to...
Read moreI have eaten at many Mexican restaurants and in the area where we live, most are mediocre at best. We were happy to hear about a new restaurant opening right around the corner from us and the reviews were over the top and it was packed every night. In fact we showed up on a Monday after they had opened up on the weekend before and it was closed even though the door stated they were supposed to be open and what we learned later is that they were overwhelmed by their opening which was a red flag to me. Even so we waited a little longer to try this restaurant out. We ordered our food. I always get a California Burrito where ever I go. My husband ordered 2 beef enchiladas with rice and beans. The burrito that I ordered always comes with rice, onions, tomatoes and grilled chicken topped with shredded lettuce, tomatoes, guacamole, sour cream and pico de gallo. What I got was stewed shredded chicken in a cold tortilla with what looked like quesso pored over the top but it tasted like flour and water mixed together and salsa that looked like the watery mess at the bottom of a salsa jar. It was totally inedible. My husband could not eat the enchiladas . They were over cooked and just beef . There were no toppings, no guacamole, sour cream, salsa, pico de gallo…..nothing. The food was the worst we had ever experienced . I have had the best Mexican food in Chicago. It was so good, it was like heaven. Guacamole made table side, pico de gallo made at table side, homemade chips, homemade tortillas , grilled meats not stewed or baked. It was perfection. This food, was...
Read moreWe drove 40 minutes out of our way from Columbia to try this restaurant, hoping for a nice meal on the water. Unfortunately, it was a big disappointment. If you're coming from Columbia, I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re only planning to just have drinks, the cocktails were the one highlight of this restaurant strong and well made. As for the food, it really was not good. I ordered a seafood dish and the "cheese sauce" tasted more like watered down sour cream so we asked the waiter for the shrimp tacos instead and he didn’t skip a beat, took the plate and said he would put the order in, per the menu it was supposed to have cheese, onions, salad on top and when got the tacos they didn’t match the description on the menu at all, it was shrimp and cilantro. I didn’t say anything because I had already sent a different order back, when we got the bill both orders were still on there, my original seafood dish and the tacos in addition. When we pointed this out to the waiter he said that’s what we ordered and that he couldn’t remove it. We had to push back several times for him to “ask the manager” he was gone for about 10 seconds and back again with the bill corrected. That is incredibly poor business practice and left a really bad impression. The chip baskets were also covered in dry salsa which i would have looked past but paired with everything else, no. This could’ve been an enjoyable experience, but with the poor food, lack of communication, questionable cleanliness, and shady billing, we definitely...
