We went for breakfast. The place was mostly full, the décor screamed 80s diner, but the service was friendly and you could tell most people were regulars. The dining area was clean and there is a semi open kitchen in the back that you can see into.
The food was sub-par. I was very disappointed that this was not home cooked food. Now, other people with me chose omelets, and they really enjoyed theirs, so omelets may be the way to go for breakfast.
I had a Big Boy breakfast. I was very disappointed with the biscuits and gravy. Both tasted like they had come from Sysco or Sam's Club. The gravy was obviously a mix and the biscuits were dry and definitely not homemade. The hashbrowns were bland and needed seasoning.
Our waitress was very friendly and the food was filling, I just wish it would have been home cooked food, as one would expect from a mom and pop...
Read moreThis is the best breakfast place in central Illinois. Let's be honest ... it's nothing to look at ... it's not in the best neighborhood ... inside it has some faded pictures of John Wayne and the seating is your standard 4 -person square tables. When it's full, it's loud. So, if you are looking for a quiet, romantic breakfast place, this isn't your place! However, if you want some great breakfast food and super friendly, attentive service. .. this is the place! My coffee was always full and Whitney was always smiling. The star of the show was the food. I got the chicken fried steak breakfast ... big portions, homemade gravy, crispy hash browns and two deliciously scrambled eggs. And this might sound a little silly, but the white toast was perfect! I'm serious ... it was perfect! If you want breakfast, the Busy Corner in Pekin is the...
Read moreThis is a great spot! The food is really good and more than reasonably priced. There are so many things on the menu to try and all come with great reviews. The staff is what got me though. In a world where no one wants to work, they were so friendly! We came in shortly before closing without realizing. We offered to take out food to go and they told us absolutely not! They told us to take our time and not worry about it because they would be there for a little bit anyway. They continued to check on us and we even had one girl stop to make sure that her cleaning wasn't bothering us. This was after closing! We were pleasantly surprised and felt that they went above and beyond what we could ever expect. I highly recommend this small little diner. Great food and...
