In 2018, my dad left to go to the store to "grab a pack of smokes", and seemed lost, never to return. It was only through the warmth, comfort, and love that is baked into every pizza and delicious calzone at Two P's that I found the courage to keep my hope alive. I just knew that he was out there, somewhere, destined to come back to me.
For two solid years, I survived on nothing but pizzas and calzones from Two P's - always served by a friendly, appreciative, and welcoming server or bartender - and I grew big and strong. I was ready to fight whoever had taken my dad from me and bring him back home safe and sound.
In December of 2020, loaded with a tenderloin - which is big enough to feed 2 - 3 adults, if we're being honest - and a pepperoni & sausage calzone, I was ready to begin my journey. Just as I opened the door to take my first steps, I saw him. My father had finally returned! We shared the calzone, and I realized that he wasn't in any danger, he was just a deadbeat pushover who decided to abandon the responsibilities of parenting and adulthood.
Nonetheless, Two P's remains the one thin thread that ties my father and I together. It seems that both of us totally love the savory sauce, gooey cheese, fresh toppings, and delicious golden brown crust that makes the best calzone you'll find in all of Illinois.
Thanks Two P's for giving my dad a reason to stick around. 10/10, would eat another calzone any...
Read moreI have had a little bit of everything. Best pizza in town. Tenderloins stand at the top of the podium too. The Tziki fries, yum.
Their calzones though... parmesan baked into the crust. Stuffed full of your choice of any 5 toppings, plus gobs of ooey-gooey cheese, even ricotta cheese, and marinara within and accompanying to dip to your delight!
The ONLY thing preventing the 5th star for this place is the simple fact that regardless of pizza or zone, the last 4 orders I have asked for the same, "Pepperoni, Sausage, Ground Beef, and Green Olives." Green peppers... Every. Single. Time.
But, it is a small thing, easily rectified, and even more easily overlooked as the whole staff is incredible at giving a great experience. Heck, the other night I placed a carryout order and forgot. On me, completely. I called about 25 minutes after the planned pickup time and said I was on my way. She refused to let me just take what was already prepared and instead made something completely fresh. Do that at North Pekin McDonald's and you are most assuredly going to get a finely half-hour-aged McDouble that's probably made wrong already.
Give Two P's a try next time you want pizza, its the best quality and flavor in town. Way better value than any pizza joint that is not Dominos. Unlike Monica's, you don't need to take out a second mortgage to order some pies...
Read moreThis was our first time ever eating here and the food was absolutely wonderful we each got our own pizza so we can each get what we wanted and we each ordered a appetizer and I also ordered an Italian side salad which was so good everything was handmade and tasted awesome our bartender was so friendly he even came over and sat down with us and talked with this about everything on the menu making sure he got everything right we ordered..we parked around in the back and walked around to the front and you have to make sure you walk all the way down the sidewalk otherwise you'll think they're not open very very friendly place great food will definitely make this a regular spot. Don't change the love that goes out in your food it's very noticeable I always say to give credit where credit is due .. remember to let your servers and your bartenders and your Cooks know if the food is good or they've done a good job for you it means a lot to them and this is coming from a 35 year food service director...
