Not bad, but not great and not worth the hype that's been building up in the reviews. The employees were very friendly but extremely unorganized. We ordered by phone in the early afternoon for dinner take out and were put on hold many times as the employee was checking to see what they had in stock and what they could make. When we arrived to pick up the food, it was equally disorganized, and the employees were visibly flustered by the chaos. It seemed there were too many customers for the employees to manage, and there was a severe breakdown in communication about what food was ready, what was still in stock, and what could still be made.
The ribs were about what I expected, maybe a little dry but the flavors were good. The pulled pork and smoked sausage were both decent but also nothing to write home about. The garlic roasted potatoes were really good, however the smoked mac & cheese was awful; it had no smokey flavor but instead tasted chemically, almost like plastic. One of the worst mac & cheeses I've ever had, which is disappointing because I love a good mac & cheese with bbq.
The 8oz portion of the sides is very small, so I recommend bumping up a size or two when you order.
Overall, I hope they iron out their logistics and/or communication issues and their food continues to get better with time because I welcome the idea of another locally-owned bbq joint in the area. At the moment, however, I can't recommend it as you can find better bbq at a similar price point elsewhere...
Read moreI recently had the shrimp po’ boy with a side of mac and cheese, and the Amish cakes and it absolutely hit the spot. The sauce that comes with the Amish cake was so delicious I actually added it to my sandwich as well. The po’ boy was everything you’d hope for—crispy, golden-fried shrimp piled high on a soft yet slightly crusty roll, with just the right amount of lettuce, tomato, and. Every bite had that perfect balance of crunch, spice, and tang, especially with the Amish cake sauce.
The shrimp were fresh and flavorful, seasoned to perfection, and not overly greasy. The bread held up beautifully without getting soggy given I ordered this to go and the sauce added a nice kick without overpowering the other ingredients.
As for the mac and cheese—wow. Cheesy, and comforting. It was the ultimate side dish, indulgent without being too heavy, and it paired wonderfully with the bold flavors of the po’ boy.
If the food does not attract you then the hospitality will. Lori and Dave are such a ray of sunshine greeting each customer and always so welcoming. If you're looking for a satisfying meal that brings a taste of Southern comfort, this combo is a must-try. I’ll definitely be...
Read moreI worked with Dave and Lori of Fitz Willy to cater my son's graduation party in mid-June for 50 people. I can't say enough about the quality of the food. I ordered pulled pork, chicken quarters, smoked max and cheese, apple coleslaw, sliders and chicken fingers. All the food was delicious. All the guest continually commented about how great the food was.
Dave and Lori also meet with me prior to booking the event to cover all the options and offer suggestions. They were very professional and a joy to work with.
In addition for the party I utilized their service to maintain and replenish the food during the graduation party, which was well worth it, as it allowed me to enjoy time with family and friends.
I would not hesitate to recommend Fitz Willys Kitchen and Catering to anyone. Give them a shot the food and...
