Charly's — Restaurant in Pennington Gap

I was visiting my grandparents for christmas 2021. They live a few minutes from this restaurant. I ordered the hamburger steak, and so did my grandmother. we were so excited because we saw they have fried mushrooms. 1 serving for $8 is very expensive but like i said, we LOVE fried mushrooms. This is the only reason we ordered from here. We called our order in the day after christmas. The lady, Cheryl, said it’ll take 30 minutes for her to cook it. Ok, awesome no problem. We show up 40 minutes later with food from another place we picked up for another family member, and we were told the food isn’t ready yet. We waited a total of 1 hr 15 minutes for our extremely small order. We rushed home since the other food was cold, and we were starving. We got home ready to dig in, and come to find out NO MUSHROOMS period. I was furious. I called this restaurant back in hopes of having the mushrooms made, only to call and hear the cook say “OH YEAHHHH they were supposed to have 2 orders of fried mushrooms. Oh well, I didn’t add it to their ticket so they weren’t charged.” LOL. i kid you not. I was shocked at this response. No compensation, no remakes, nothing. Not even an offer to come pick them up for free since it was THEIR ERROR. Absolutely ridiculous customer service. The other food was ok, very dry. Not much...

I ordered soup beans, fried potatoes and "cornbread". My husband ordered the chicken wrap with tater tots. Both of us had ice tea. The tea was good. The waitress was very nice. My husband said his chicken wrap was "okay". Soup beans were okay but tasted more watery than flavorful. The "fried" potatoes were not sliced but instead were small cubes that were over fried and dry. The most disappointing part of the meal... other than it being way over priced... was the "cornbread". Apparently there are 2 kinds of cornbread... both called cornbread. The one I was given was made by Charly. When it arrived at the table it didn't look quite right to me. It looked kind of like a biscuit. I broke it in half and the inside looked a bit more like cornbread than did the outside. Tasting it I knew something is different for sure. Tasted like perhaps it was made with flour. Come to find out the cornbread they gave me was Charly's and not the kind that was part of the day's special. Yep, there was alot of flour added into the cornbread. The waitress asked if there was any of the other cornbread left. Unfortunately, there was none left... to bad for me, perhaps it could have saved the...

This was absolutely the most worse experience I ever had anywhere in life. I wish I could give a no star rating. I can't even tell you what my food tastes like cause we never got our food. There was only one couple waiting for food when we arrived and 4 other couples arrived about 10 mins after we ordered our simple Ham and Cheese sandwich, cheesesteak sandwich. After waiting 25 mins, the other people started to get their food before us, their had a bigger order than us. So after 45 mins total, no one come to say nothing about why we had no food yet. They proceed to give every other table there their food and still didn't bring us out simple Ham & cheese sandwich, cheesesteak sandwich. What do you do when there is no service and no food plus u have already waited 45 mins. We just left!!. I will never ever return to this place again. Here is a warning, if you are hungry do go here cause you will wait ur life away and no one will come explain anything or ask...
