Big Heng — Restaurant in Peoria

I'm not sure how this place has 4.4 stars as of this review. That's why we went here - good rating and on my way to where we were going. Unfortunately, it really just wasn't good. We ordered takeout, and it was ready on time. That's about the only good thing I can say about this place. More on that later, however an even bigger problem:

As I was leaving, I witnessed this business willfully, blatantly, and irresponsibly violate county, state, and federal health codes for food establishments. This restaurant does not seem to care at all about the health and safety of their customers, nor the cleanliness of their establishment. All of the employees need to be retrained on health codes and food handler protocol.

After witnessing the health code violation, I almost didn't want to eat the food - but the employee that I paid at the counter had gone back into the kitchen and didn't come back out for me to request a refund. I was hungry, so I left. After getting to where I was going, we opened our food - and it looked okay, but after tasting, it was just not good. The egg rolls were fried properly, but extremely bland and tasteless. The "orange-flavored" chicken was just that - flavored, not true orange chicken. No kick, no veggies, just junky chicken. The kung pao chicken had no spice at all, and had celery in it? At least the zucchini was firm and not soggy (another odd choice, but it was fine at least). And there was far too little chicken compared to veggies.

Anyways, I cannot recommend this...

Excellent food and fast friendly service. Best Chinese food I've had.

Second time we have eaten here, the first time was about 6 years ago and I remember the food was not bad back then. We decided to try it since we were on our way back home to Buckeye and the wife felt like Chinese food. We were seated quickly, there were only 2 other couples inside, our server was rather rude, she wanted us to order quickly. I guess she wanted to join the other workers or family who were seated at a big table toward the front eating. I ordered kung pao chicken the wife ordered chicken chop suey and pork fried rice. Our food came out quickly. It had a weird smell to it and upon tasting the kung pao I got a bad taste and at the same time my wife said her chop suey had a bad taste also. I tried the fried rice and had to spit it out. We advised our server and I don't think she liked me telling her the food tasted bad, it tasted as if it was on the brink of spoiling. Another woman came out from the kitchen area and asked if we wanted to order something else, we both said no we just wanted the check. Before she returned with our check I had to rush into the restroom and thru up. I wanted to complain to the manager or owner but the wife said we should just leave, never return and warn our family and friends about this place. The food tasted and smelled bad.
