I’ve been there multiple times since it’s close to me & im new to town . I adore Mexican cuisines to the fullest but this spot just dosent do it for me . Let me start with saying they’re very kind & the service is great no doubt . If a mistake happens , they will correct it without issue . And that is greatly appreciated. Truly . Aside from that , I’ve tried a beef burrito from them & thought it to be super salty while on another occasion I’ve had the chicken tacos and it lacked a bit of seasoning . I’m not a fan of the tamales bc of the masa , the meat is spiced well in the inside . But it just seemed like the tamales were made in a rush . Just no love . Masa is supposed to be dry but wet at the same time , idk it’s hard to explain but the tamales seem overly wet . The flautas , they use the same chicken meat as for the Tacos so it’s not much flavor . And the Caldo de Pollo want the best , also seemed made in a rush . It lists all these veggies that Caldo is supposed to have But when I received my order I barely had a zucchini, a carrot and not a potato in sight. The corn was sweet corn which threw me off completely. I’ve never had Caldo with sweet corn & the chicken was brassy . Like ik you let the chicken do the cooking in the soup but it’s like no flavor at all but what dark meat provides which is a heavy iron taste. And the rice , while good in flavor , tasted undercooked & old & didn’t really soak up the juices in the Caldo while eating . Idk … it wasn’t the greatest experiences & I keep trying to give them chances again bc they’re close to home but … unfortunately I don’t think I can any more....

Called in to ask if they had Birria tacos for my girlfriend. Lady told us that they do, we told her we'd call right back to place a to go order which she said was fine. We called back multiple times but it seemed like the line was blocked/disconnected. Tried for 15-20 minutes. So we end up driving there to order on the spot. Ordered a steak and chicken burrito with rice & beans and my girlfriend had 3 birria tacos. The tacos we're inedible thanks to the congealed cheese in them. She was complaining so I had to try for myself and I tell you when I took a bite every other ingredient broke down EXCEPT for the cheese. It was horrendous, like a piece of rubber!! We both tried our rice which tasted WEEKS old, dreadful. The only saving grace here at all was the burrito that I had ordered. It was exceptional throughout top to bottom, and the refried beans were a little soupy... but excellent flavor so I chalk those up as a win as well! Now I'm fine with restaurants being rough around the edges but to charge $15 for 3 tacos is just pure insanity. We paid nearly $40 for one bomb burrito, old stinking rice, decent refrieds and 3 tacos for the dogs. We will not be back as we never felt welcome from start to finish and were extremely disappointed with our food... there are PLENTY of Mexican restaurants in Peoria, go give those a...

The food was good, and I especially loved my Cabeza taco! But we arrived half an hour before closing, and they just took our order without saying a word, so we were excited that they were still seating people at that time, and planned to eat quickly and leave. When our order was done, they just put it on the counter, packed up to go. I can completely understand wanting to send customers along when it's close to closing, but we ordered soup and a very messy sope, which were good, but were incredibly difficult to eat in the car (we aren't from Peoria, so we couldn't just take it home without it getting cold). If we had been greeted with "just so you know, we're only accepting orders to go right now since we're so close to closing time" would have be so nice. We would have ordered completely different food. The person who took our order seemed a little bothered that we were there at all, which was off-putting, plus there's aren't prices on many of the things on the menu, so it's hard to know how much you're spending. All in all, if be willing to give them another shot, maybe at their other location, but eating in the car with no warning and no chance to adjust our choices accordingly left a bad taste...

Hands down the best tamales I have ever had… in ILLINOIS!!! And I’m from Colorado! Small hole the wall but worth the find! UPDATE! 4/1/25 Changing my review. Since the move to the new address this place has gone down hill big time. See picture. Second order that was unsatisfactory this month. Geez guys! What’s up? Ordered a poblano tamale and got a meat one (can’t eat that) that was literally hard as a rock when I unwrapped it! Are there new owners? What the heck k! I made a video too but can’t upload it. Will go to my Google Reviews and upload it. The order on the bag clearly says Problano Tamale.

This is my second time eating here at Cuco's. I ordered the same food and drink as the first time... Carnitas Pastor, their corn on the cobb, and the strawberry milk drink. This time, the food was even better. The people are so nice. I believe that it's a family business. I would definitely eat here again. I have told my friends and family members how good the food and service are here. Next time, I'm having the nachos. My daughter let me try hers. They were the chicken ones, and they were delicious. The cheesecake chimi changas were also yummy.

Stale chips! This is my second time here. The first time I got the same thing Nachos with ground beef. It was amazing. This time it was different and the chips were STALE. I even tipped them extra money with the online order bc it was so good the last time. And this is what I get. Photos included. Paid $22 for nachos and churro. I ate toppings as it was FULL of Stale chips. This experience was nothing like the first time I ate here. I read a few comments aayin stale chips but that never happened to me until yesterday... smh
