After a day of desert riding we decided to look for a nearby pizza place we’d never been and found Stevie’s. The options in Vistancia are limited and this is the only pizza you’ll find. The reviews here seem to vary. I try to look at the worst rated and see why and who is rating. While some are obviously valid with service being rude or wait times I also see reviews coming from people with only one or two reviews ever and only negative. I don’t tend to take those seriously and want to give a place a fair shot. While I did see some of what the negative reviewers talked about our experience was pretty good. Let’s start with the positives though because who wants to lead with the bad. While the parking lot was busy it was easily accessible and we were able to find parking even with our trailer and bikes. There is a grocery story nearby as well as coffee and other businesses. When we walked in we were greeted and given a minute to look over the menu. Options are pretty good and they also serve beer on tap. The location is small, but hold quite a few booths and tables. There are a few outside tables as well. It was quite busy and people coming and going with pick up orders and such. We decided on a large pepperoni, garlic knots and hot wings. They have both large and small pints and the glass was chilled which is a definite bonus point. The boy running the register was pleasant enough and explained it would be about 40 minutes or so for our pizza. We hoped it wouldn’t take that long, but again it was busy. While waiting we heard the employee on the phone sounding like they were turning some customers away because the cook was getting overwhelmed. We were pleased to get our garlic knots and wings quickly. The wings were steaming and looked amazing. They are not baked which I love and not over sauced either. They were crispy and good sized wings with lots of meat. The garlic knots were good as well. Our pizza soon followed at about 30 minutes and the appetizers held us over so it was no big deal. The pizza had good flavor, my son was happy with the amount of pepperoni and crust was a bit crispy and not soggy which I liked. So on to the negative. I heard a little attitude from the counter employee when people picking up orders came in at their told pick up time to food not being ready. There’s nothing to argue if you told someone good would be ready and it’s not just apologize and thank them for their patience don’t argue minutes. For us we had a pretty good experience. We enjoyed our food and service for us was ok. As I said I can see why some find customer service rude, wait times long and such. Just remember that this is a local owned business, it can get overwhelmed as it’s a very busy spot. Have some patience and kindness. If you’re looking for a big chain type place this may...
Read moreThere has been some type of movement lately with certain pizza shop owners in the valley where they cut ties with their traditional suppliers, "shop locally" for their ingredients, and end up changing their original recipes that we fell in love with years ago. What your left with is grocery store-tier pizza. You can tell right away when a plain cheese pizza starts to cool down. The cheese becomes insanely chewy and unpleasant to eat. That's not New York pizza, and to me, it's less enjoyable than chain places. The lunch special slices were also significantly smaller than other places across the valley. It's almost like they were using medium pizzas for lunch specials instead of large.
The crust was really good. That was one of the best parts. That and the cleanliness got them an extra star. The place smelled slightly of bleach, all tables were clean, and the soda machine was in good shape. (I did go on Wednesday though and they're closed Tuesday during the summer so I'm guessing they just deep cleaned) The lunch special prices were slightly better than the competition but I guess they make up the difference by giving you 5 wings instead of 6 and such a small slice.
Service was okay but not great. They opened a couple minutes late with people waiting outside and when I was handed my order to go when I was planning on eating in, instead of plating the meal he just took it out of the bag and handed me the containers to eat from. I tried to ask a question at the counter about the old owner while my order was being prepared and the dude kept his head down and kept rushing back and forth as he was not completely set up to open yet. I'm a big dude, I'm kinda hard to miss but I had to shout back there to get his attention.
The wings were cooked perfectly but had a slight funky aftertaste. Not offensive enough to not eat them but enough to notice. I imagine it would have become more noticeable had they had a chance to cool. They had a lot of sauce which I do like and the ranch was good. The inside of the restaurant also looks really nice. All in all, my favorite part was the Dr. Pepper. Those freestyle machines suck half the time and it was nice to see a traditional well-kept fountain on the customer side. I haven't had soda in a while and the machine was perfectly maintained. The pizza though... Ain't what it used to be. R**'s is the only true New York slice...
Read moreIf I could give negative stars I would. We did a mobile order to be picked up. Wings, calzone and baked ziti. We sent our son to pick it up on his way home. What we received was wings and two slices of pizza. TWO. SLICES. OF. PIZZA. When my wife called to let them know they completely got our order wrong, she was told by the person on the other end of the phone that they did not owe us anything because he verified the order with our son. Our son had no idea what the order was, he didn't order the food. He assumed they were correct when they read the order to him. Would you blame Door Dash for a wrong order? Hey Stevie's, you had our mobile order, it is YOUR responsibility to fill it correctly. Finally, after 10 minutes they finally agreed to correct the order. They asked we give them 10 minutes. 15 minutes later, when she got there, they had not even started the order. AND to top it all off, they didn't even offer a discount, a coupon or anything. All we received was a half-a$$ apology blaming it on how busy they were. My wife said there was one couple actually eating in the restaurant. Honestly, I don't care about free food or discounted food. Mistakes are made sometimes. I get it but after you had the shear audacity to blame us for your incompetence, I will never darken you door again and I will forever advise anyone who listens to avoid your restaurant. We didn't even get our...
