Veterans Pub & Pizza — Restaurant in Peoria

Ordered a pizza for pickup with no green peppers. The person answering the phone—or the bartender, I’m not sure—was very short and rude, just saying “15 minutes,” then hung up. I waited 20 minutes, headed there, and then waited another 30 minutes after paying, only to be told they put green peppers on my pizza. The staff was extremely rude and short with me, like I was an inconvenience.

I told them I wanted my money back since it had already been over 50 minutes, and she didn’t say a word—just took the money and set it down, with no apology. I’ve been eating here 2-3 times a month, by the harbor, and never had an issue before. But this experience was so shocking I sat at the bar writing this review.

Patty asked a few minutes later if I wanted another pizza, and I said no—I was just writing a review. She blamed the cooks, which is funny. If they had just offered me water and a quick “Sorry, we got busy,” I would have waited, no problem. But instead, it was just rude, short, and dismissive, like I was bothering them.

Honestly, they work hard for their money, and spending it at your establishment should come with some respect. Maybe next time treat people like that and you’ll keep...

Some would probably call this a "dive bar" but the service and atmosphere were the first things that you'll notice. It is... political inside so if you don't want to see that, you probably won't like it. That said, it wasn't talked about & didn't bother us. My family stopped on our way to a concert & we are already talking about driving back some time soon. The pizzas are delicious and our son got a HUGE plate of the spaghetti and meatballs special. He can usually take down a whole serving anywhere but he couldn't finish this! The locals were all friendly too. Our server was so nice, even gave me the special price on domestic drafts ($1!!!). She said that is during certain times but still. You can't get a dollar beer many places anymore. We absolutely couldn't recommend...

Things you do not discus in a place like this: Religion and Politics .... BUT then again most of the people hanging out in this place are the reason why people can discuss those very topics out loud and proud. As George Orwell once said: “People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.” If you want to buy one of these people a beer and thank them for your liberty stop buy and DO IT.
