The girl operating the front desk on 12/18/17 at 3pm needs to find her educator on customer service. She was very passive aggressive towards our situation regarding our $1 refund towards our entrance fee. We are members of the Peoria Playhouse and had brought the kids’ grandmother. She charged her the $8 to get in (which I don’t understand why they even charge adults for just ‘sitting there’ watching their kids play. It’s not like the adults are playing with toys!). She, then, mentions that you can get $1 off your entry if you attended the Peoria Zoo on the same day; which we did. But, she mentioned it as she was charging my credit card the full $8. When my mother showed her the receipt from the zoo, she was like “oh, it already went through” and showed a lack of effort or care for the appropriate charge. She, then, proceeded to tell us that she would have to get the manager to get the ‘$1’ refund. Her tone while she said it, though, was like “are you really going to make a big deal over $1?!”
No, I wasn’t until you said it like that!! A “great emplyee” would have told us to go on ahead and she would have found us once she got ahold of her manager. Don’t you dare demean any situation no matter how minuscule!
A man and his grandson then came in 30 min before the playhouse was to close and she charged him the full price without informing him that he only had 30 min. Firstly, the playhouse should only charge Half Price 1 hour before closing! Secondly, this girl should had told him he only had 30 min. He was not happy.
I like the playhouse, but it needs improvement! The hours need to extend till 5pm They should only charge half price during their last hour of operation Adults are being charged WAY TOO MUCH for not doing anything. It’s a place for the kids to play, not for adults! I wouldn’t want to pay $8 to just to sit there.
Please take these concerns into consideration! I would really like to see more empathy towards the...
Read moreBrought my kids today, on a Wednesday, during our spring break (different week than most schools) and everything seemed broken and out of order.
The "Motion Commotion" ball machine was broken, and air pressure was low for other tubes in that area.
The water table seemed low on water, and all tubes and most water toys were removed. My son put the smock on and instantly took it off upon realizing there wasn't anything fun to do in the water without the flow tubes.
The art/craft rooms were closed - looked like there was a meeting in one, and another room had some moms in it just chatting (I can't remember if these were normally open in the past or if I'm confusing it with Bloomington that has a nice craft room always open). The Real Tools room was closed when we arrived around 10:15... it wasn't until we were ready to leave later that we saw it was finally open - it would have been nice to know when things like that are available... I didn't see it on the website.
The Theatre exhibit only had some hand puppets in the big dress-up/props chest.
The batteries were dead for the circuit light challenge... or the circuits just didn't work. I tried all of them myself and couldn't get them to work. The battery compartments look like they could use a good cleaning or replacement.
The top of the chicken coop climb was locked - so my kids had to climb back down after climbing up. Seems like a strange thing to lock - another set of parents near us were confused on why it was locked as well.
I honestly couldn't believe they were charging people full price to come there today. This will probably be the last time we visit, seeing as my children are starting to outgrow what they have to offer at 6 and 8-years-old. Not knowing if everything (especially things for the older kids) is going to be working or open when visiting makes it quite the gamble of our time and money...
Read moreFirst, let me start off by saying the only reason that this place got four stars instead of five was because they did not have outlet covers in the majority of their outlets that were easily accessible to the children. If you're going to have a place where hundreds of children of different ages come into play daily, you need to have all the safety precautions that you can have. With that being said, it was everything I expected. The main level and lower level have all of the toys, activities and hands-on experiences while the top floor is reserved for more quiet type space with some books and bean bag chairs. Among some of the things to do were a nice sized water play area, sand play area, 'magic' ball and tube area, and of course, grocery store daycare, movie theater, dentist and farm area plus more. The most unique thing on the main floor is the giant floor keyboard with flashing colored lights. It is something to experience and all of the children that were there seemed to love that area! The best thing about the Playhouse is there are at least two separate areas within the lower and main floors that allow for small children to be semi isolated and play with the same sort of toys but yet don't have to worry about being accidentally run over by older children. Be aware though that they do not allow strollers, so you would have to park your stroller outside which in Peoria -'m sorry to say- is probably not a good idea, so leave the stroller at home. It is well worth the cost to get in and I would recommend if you have more than two children or you plan to go more than two or three times a year that you definitely buy a membership. That would save...
