Was looking for a pitstop to have a late lunch or early dinner on our way to Conneaut. Found this Thai place near Heinen's grocery store. The place was quite fancy I would say that was shown by the staff and waiters/waitresses wearing tidy uniforms. We came early after 3.30 pm (the opening time) and a table was filled with a group of people already. During our almost 60-minutes there, I could see a lot of people come and go whether for dine-in or takeouts. The service was great although the waiters took our finished plates kinda quickly which was okay for me. However, once I stepped into the restaurant and got out, I remembered no proper greetings or goodbyes from either one of the staff although our server gave a warm goodbye after giving us our check. Maybe a 'hello’ or a quick response to seat us would be better?
Food-wise, we got Pad Thai, Mango Curry with Jasmine Rice, and Crab Sticks as an appetizer (similar to Crab Rangoon but with different types of fried dough) while having a glass of Iced Thai Tea. The Thai tea came first and was super refreshing but the ice might be too much so I couldn't taste the sweetness of it. The crab sticks came second in the form of spring rolls – I'd say this might be one of the best crab 'rangoons’ I've ever tasted around since the filling was super full and the sweet-sour sauce was just right. My friend got the pad thai and he told me that it was just okay and we thought maybe because of the most affordable menu on the list but he expected more flavor into it. I ordered the Mango Curry which sounded unique and the plate got sliced mangos. The curry taste was rich, the toppings were fresh although I believe they were hotter than the curry so I wasn't so sure whether they were cooked together inside the curry or not. Maybe adding more mushrooms or vegetables would be great too for the curry dish.
Overall, everything was good. Really love the interior design that is super detailed and elegant – really representing Thailand's culture. Keep up...
Read moreMy wife and I went for our anniversary dinner; we chose to try it due to our normal Thai place being closed on Monday's(Bangkok Thai-Mayfield Road-Lyndhurst). Ordered green and red curry both 2 out of 3 star heat level; not very good. On a scale of 1-10 on curry dishes it was maybe a 3 or 4, there was a marked lack of basil, the spice and seasoning wasn't there and it had an unusual sweetness to it not normal to coconut milk curry dishes and lastly they add cow based half and half into the curry to finish them! Yuck! We asked several questions before ordering our appetizers(shrimp spring rolls and tempura vegetables) to ensure they contained no dairy and explained our allergy, one would assume that the server would then also ensure that she further advised us of any other items we may be ordering that contain dairy! Nope, must not have crossed her mind, I'll chalk that one up to my fault for not being more sure to confirm. It wasn't a busy evening at all we were there at 8pm and maybe two other tables were seated. A few other things to note, when we walked in and a not so pleasant smell hit us right away that almost made us do an about face and leave(smelled like musty or dirty carpets), secondly there were several people working, of those people there that night there was one young lady who was just sat at the register playing on her phone the whole time, I never actually saw her move to do anything, my wife and I just though that was weird. Service, well I can see what several people had said in the past about poor customer service skills, they aren't the best. All of the other reviews about poor service or so so food are true and consistent with our visit, maybe try it if your favorite Thai...
Read morePlease read this. I’ve been a customer at Peppermint for over ten years. After tonight, I won’t be ordering from there again. I was more than willing to forgive the frequent mixing up of the orders and inconsistencies – tasty one evening then unrecognizable the next – but not the unnecessary rudeness. Tonight was the third time in the last three months that my order has been messed up. When I called to let them know about the error (I received a chicken pad thai instead of a chicken satay) they unbelievably blamed me for the mistake and didn’t even bother to apologize for the inconvenience. While I hope initially this was an honest mistake and miscommunication – the person taking the order likely heard me say chicken pad thai when what I actually said was chicken satay – they did nothing to rectify the issue beyond asking for me to drive back and return the dish?? I tried to explain to them that driving back wasn’t an option at that time and received the same rude treatment from the other end of the phone. This isn’t the first time I’ve felt mistreated as a loyal customer of theirs, but it will most definitely be the last – plenty of other good places in the area to get takeout where they actually appreciate your business. Wish I could erase the...
