The high reviews make sense. I stopped by yesterday after work and Iām grateful I found this tucked-away spot. It may be a hidden, low-key location, but good food travels by word of mouth.
I ordered oxtails with rice & cabbage, plantains, and a pineapple-ginger drink. The oxtails were tender and full of flavor (the gravy is a main character), and the rice & cabbage were delicious. The plantains werenāt the usual fried-crispy style but more baked/less oily and still really good. The drink was fresh and bright. On my way out I was offered a small sample of the mac & cheese, also delicious. One person was holding down the front, and Iām not sure if thereās one or two in the back, but whoever is behind that stove: your food comforted my soul.
From the first bite to the last sip, I felt cared for. In times like these, that kind of comfort matters. I could taste that the food is cooked with love and thatās an ingredient that canāt be copied. May your kitchen stay busy and your blessings overflow. Iāll be back, and Iāll be sending folks your way. If anyones wondering whether to go, Go! Let this meal...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI recently had the pleasure trying great food and it was an experience worth sharing. From the moment I walked in, the warm, welcoming atmosphere set the tone for what would be a flavorful and satisfying meal.
I ordered the classicĀ jerk chicken which was smoky, tender, and packed with just the right amount of heat. Curry chicken, The spices had clearly been marinated deeply into the meat, giving each bite a rich, authentic taste. Paired withĀ rice and peasĀ andĀ steamed cabbage, the dish felt hearty and true to its roots.
TheĀ fried plantainsĀ were a sweet contrast to the spice of the mains ā caramelized just right. I finished off the meal with a cold glass ofĀ sorrel, which was refreshing and spiced with hints of ginger and cloves.
Service was friendly and attentive. The staff clearly take pride in the food and the culture theyāre sharing.

It's not fast food so you can call it in if you do not have patience. But you can make it an eat in experience if you choose so that you and your partner have time to conversate. I personally like this because restaurants now seem to rush you through your meal and hover over you. This will not happen at JAH B.
The food is flavored to the right level. Jerk and Curry should not be so hot that you lose the flavor of the meat. You should still taste the oxtail, the goat as well as the chicken. If you are looking for something different and not the same old same old, you've got to stop here at this restaurant.
By the way, the cabbage and the plantains are on...
