We don’t have a Kilwins where we live so every time we are on vacation we have to stop and visit. This is our first time at this particular store and it was VERY busy, but the staff were all friendly and helpful and patient with everyone. Our daughter wasn’t sure she would like fudge, so they let her sample some before we purchased it (turns out she loved it, we knew she would), and then when we were at the ice cream counter, she was between two flavors and they didn’t hesitate to offer her a sample to help make her decision easier, and they didn’t make us feel rushed knowing the line was growing with each second (though we were mindful and made sure not to hold it up with her indecisiveness). On my way to the restroom I noticed a young boy about 6 years old that was unsupervised that nearly ran behind the fudge counter and was asking the young man working lots of questions and overheard him being very patient with this young boy. There was plenty of seating despite the crowd, and our daughter also loved that she could see into the kitchen and pointed out how many precautions they took to ensure top quality product coming out with the suits and coverings back there (she specifically noticed a girl with her hair braided and then a cover over her braid). We will definitely plan to visit this location next time we...
Read moreHoly moly. So many things to say about this place - and only one bad thing at the end (if you have nut allergies).
So this is the headquarters for Kilwins and I found it on accident. Their chocolate is decadent and such a treat. The decor was amazing for Easter and they have massive chocolate statues of Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny. So cool!
I highly recommend trying the mint chocolate, mud slide, and original fudge. Their dark chocolate covered pretzels were also amazing. They also have drinking chocolate in bags where you add it to hot milk?! As well as ice-cream cakes, pints of ice-cream, assorted chocolate candies, and no added sugar chocolates. It's enough to make any chocolate lover cry.
Unfortunately for people with nut allergies this place is not going to be your friend. Everything could potentially contain nuts because of shared surfaces where the products are produced... So for those of you who are very sensitive, this isn't a place I would recommend. I took a benadryl and prayed. Honestly I won't say this often but the product was worth the risk for me personally. But if you have serious allergies...
Read moreThis is a sweet spot along the road that you shouldn’t miss when visiting the Potesky area. This place is not a chocolate store but a full chocolaterie, meaning they not only sell chocolate, but they manufacture many of their sweets in this location.
Just entering the store, I was transported to the old chocolate stores of my childhood; to that delicious smell of candy, vanilla, and chocolate - If you have ever been on an old-time chocolaterie you’ll recognize it.
Their selection of sweets is almost endless. Caramelized apples with different toppings, chocolate truffles, marshmallows, and dried fruits covered in chocolate, popcorn, fudge, and a good selection of ice creams (I recommend the toasted coconut). Their waffles are fresh-made, and I haven’t been to a place that beat Kilwins’.
If you are lucky, you may see the factory running behind the glass just in case you need some motivation to buy a large chocolate bar. They also have a small sitting area at the entrance of the store and restrooms inside.
You don’t need an excuse to visit Kilwins any time of the year, as they have gift baskets for every...
