If I could give a negative (-*) star I would. The young guy at the counter was VERY rude and not helpful at all. This is the second time I’ve come to this place and he was there being rude to me. Not sure if he has something against Americans, but I was not okay with his attitude. Firstly upon walking in I asked what items did he have and he gave me a menu and I asked if he had everything on the menu this time (because the things I asked for last time he said they did not have it)… instead of wasting my breath I was asking about certain items and he began talking to his friends that were sitting around him (older men) and looking at funny videos instead of helping me come to a decision about the food. Long story short and the deal breaker for me to walk out was when I had made my mind up and gave him my final order he then said in a frustrated tone “would you make up your mind…” and then went on to say other stuff until I interrupted him and told him not to ever rush me and that he should not tell a customer to hurry up and make up their mind especially if they have never eaten here before and there are many things to select from on the menu THAT HE SAID THEY DID NOT HAVE. I said what I said and left. The guys around him were trying to talk to me but I was already determined to leave. I do not tolerate rude customer service when I’ve worked so hard to earn my money. I will never give my money to a business who does not have good people at the register/service providers. This is the last time I will ever come to this place. I hate that I am always nice and still in return get treated like a rude customer when I am not. I became rude when he became rude to me. This is not somewhere I would recommend any one with good sense to eat. I do not care how many great reviews they have. From my personal experience - I was treated rudely. I give them a NEGATIVE 5 stars due to that young guy who think it’s okay to disrespect new customers. God bless anyone who reads this and consider the facts. I don’t know who cooked that food and what spirit they were carrying when they cooked it. I surely don’t tolerate bad customer service. I do not believe “customers are always right” but when a worker/cashier/server is rude it makes the entire business look bad. I do read and leave HONEST reviews. I went across the street to Sahara’s west African Cuisine and I was well pleased with the food and service and portions were HUGE. She is even allowed me to pay after I ate. I got the peanut butter soup and rice along with that tasty cold ginger drink. I am pregnant and it fulfilled my needs lol I am happy no thanks...
Read moreFirst time being in this area and was looking for something good to eat. I had actually stopped by another place a couple blocks up but couldn't decide on what to order as 1. I have never had African food before and 2. Their menu had names of plates but no descriptions or pictures. I did another search of places that was near me and African Small Pot came up. The stars and reviews were excellent so I decided to check out their menu. I was so impressed by their menu as it had the names of plates, descriptions AND PICTURES! So I was able to see what the names of these foods were. I called and ordered the Dibi Lamb with plantains for pick up. The gentleman on the phone was very help with answering my questions. I drove over and it was a small little spot with maybe about 8-10 small table with chairs for dining in. The gentleman instantly knew it was me and asked if I was the one who called. He explained the meal again and went to the back and cooked it up. About 10 minutes later he brought it out nice and hot in an aluminum pan for my review. Presentation is everything and I could tell by the looks that it was going to be as good as it looked. We small talked about what brought me to the area and he offered me a small (sample) cup of African sweet tea. It was a hot tea sweetened and sooo good! Getting back to my hotel I couldn't wait to try the Dibi and plantains. First bite to the last I was pleasantly impressed with the food. It was seasoned very well and cooked to perfection. If I wasnt leaving in the morning I would go back to try another dish. I highly recommend this place to anyone in the area. I stayed near the airport which was about 15 minutes away from the African Small Pot. Great...
Read moreI would never recommend this establishment to ANYONE. I received THE WORST customer service EVER. Personally I feel it’s common knowledge in the African culture that the base nationality of an establishment directly correlates with the taste of the dishes. It’s already difficult to find authentic African ingredients in this foreign land so pardon me if I’m particular about the base nationality of an establishment that I intend to patronize. Long story short as I was leaving PA I decided to stop on woodland ave and purchase some good Liberian food (because honestly PA is the only state -within driving distance to my home state, that I know off- that has authentic Liberian dishes. So of course imma stack up every literally every time I come out here and I’ve never been disappointed until this spot. So anyways, I called to place my order and of course I asked about their base nationality. First I was told they don’t take orders over the phone, then he told me I don’t need to know their base nationality. That I should just order the food and try it (btws this man literally yelled at me and would not even give me a second to get a word in). As I’ve already explained I’ve never had terrible service nor terrible Liberian food from any African restaurant in PA(specifically woodland ave) so naturally I trusted despite the negative phone conversation. YALL!!!! Why I went to get my food, and it was the WORST FOOD IVE EVER HAD ON WOODLAND AVE! EVER!!!! Please be weary of this place DONOT Waste your money!!!...
