I like John's food, it's a tad bit pricey. Which is what it is. My issue with them is I have been over charged and had to check the girls a few times. The prices on the menu isn't what I was charged. I ordered a fish sandwich and got 1 and half pieces of fish for what I paid for it, the fish wasn't fishing..
Now the bar maids.. they play too much again I got a shot of Tequila and was like 8 bucks on a Monday. (No top shelf) she was like oh sorry 5 bucks. Every one makes an error but when you are a repeat offender girl bye. One of the bar maids bought a dog in there kissing it on the mouth (she said it was a support animal, I say it's not sanitary 'round my food) Then start making drinks.
That said it's a cool hood spot I would go again, just count your money, know how much everything is, you will be OK.
ps the reason why I didn't send the fish sandwich back (someone just asked me as I type this review), is you never tell someone they messed up your food and expect it back without them 'messing' with your food.. I'm not saying they do that but I saw that happen on a show once and never again.. I'd ask for my money...
Read moreOn October 4, 2021, my friend and I ate in and the food was okay. He had the pepper steak -- which had VERY LITTLE peppers and cooked onions -- but he said it was good. I had the fried fish with collard greens and potato salad. The greens were bitter but the potato salad was good! The most disappointing dish to me were the $1.00 fried shrimp I ordered to go. They used to be lightly-battered, golden-fried and tasted like shrimp are supposed to taste! The batter was HEAVY and they were fried hard. Thinking they were cooked earlier (they weren't hot either), I sent them back for a new batch. The second batch came out a lighter in color but the batter was still heavy and they tasted nothing like they did six months ago. To Moonlight Cuisine: PLEASE GO BACK TO YOUR ORIGINAL SUPPLIER FOR THESE SHRIMP BECAUSE THEY USED TO BE THE BEST IN THIS CITY BUT NOW, NOT SO MUCH!!! Was the downgrade due...
Read moreThis is a neighborhood bar/restaurant that’s a staple on Limekiln Pike. I’ve been here many, many times before. It’s not ideal for dinner. I rarely see people getting table service and after a certain time they will tell you that you aren’t allowed to sit at the tables. I always get takeout from the bar and eat there or take it home. The food is fantastic. Love the curry goat, fried whiting, chicken soup….everything I’ve tried, really. Drinks are reasonably priced and there is a nice variety and the bartenders are always friendly. There is a cover charge some nights (I think Friday & Saturday night). Karaoke is Sunday nights. There’s also event space available on the upper floors. I hosted a baby shower here not long ago. The space was very affordable but simple. The owner is a good guy. This place is perfect to pick up some amazing Jamaican food or to have a very...
