I was driving around Philly and I was craving diner food, and I saw this establishment on my drive so I stopped by.
I was surprised to discover that there were dining tables available so I decided to dine in.
I first ordered their chipped beef and I would order more food if it was good.
My first bite of their chipped beef and I ordered almost everything on their menu.
The chipped beef was PHENOMENAL!
I also ordered their grits, sausages, bacon, salmon cake, blueberry pancakes, fries, chicken wings, fried shrimp, and omelet.
(And yes, I ate them all)
I usually avoid sausages because of the salty flavors, but this pork was not salty whatsoever and absolutely delicious. I asked the manager or owner where he got these sausages from and he said he got them delivered from a deli from NY. This guy really cares about the quality of his food that he serves his customers.
The chicken wings and fried shrimp are also fresh, and they make their own fresh batter. Absolutely delicious.
The blueberry pancakes were so fresh and tasty. Wow.
But the one thing that caught me off guard was the cheesesteak.
I've had cheesesteaks at many diners, but what the heck....this cheesesteak is better than most cheesesteak spots. The roll, the meat, the quality, the tenderness, my goodness.
The staff are also very friendly and welcoming.
And as I ate my feast, I loved how the ownership and employees engaged with all their customers.
I rarely give 5 star reviews, but The Original Sunny's Diner gets...

Read moreI ordered 2 toasted bagels: 1 with cream cheese and 1 with extra butter. They put the bagels on the grill and flattened them so much that they were paper thin (we're talking a bagel that is a half-inch or more thick flattened to nothingness!) fried in the grease they have on the grill. If I wanted a bacon grease bagel, I would have asked for one. Then the actually toppings were so skimpy that I almost needed a microscope to see them. The worst part was how long it actually took to get these ruined bagels: I waited over 10 min for this crap! I go to a LOT of corner diners in Philadelphia and never had such lousy bagels. I was tempted to offer them money NOT to give me the food. Maybe their other food is ok, but I'll never know because I'll...
