One star for the ambiance and one star for the Prima Margarita. Now for the important part…
The service was horrible. Our server definitely did not want to be there that day. His “service” was limited to “what can I get you to drink?” “Scan the QR code for the menu” and “are you ready to order?”. Literally. Not another word was spoken to us. He didn’t even address my parents and was only speaking to me. Very strange and disrespectful behavior. He also never confirmed our order, so I was initially brought the incorrect side and had to order again. I had to ask for a plastic cup for my 3yo son, and be literally brought a cup, no lid or straw; I wasn’t aware that I needed to specify that he also needed those things. We were never brought a refill on water and had to flag someone down. No one ever checked on us to see if we were enjoying our meal, or if we needed anything else. The only time someone came back to our table was to clear the plates.
The food was sub par. It’s like they try to cover up the lack of flavor with making it spicy. I looove spicy, but when it lacks flavor, what’s the point? I tried the chicken, ground beef, adovada, and chorizo tacos. The chicken taco was… wet. It’s the only way I can describe it. The tortilla literally fell apart the moment I tried to pick it up. The ground beef had no flavor, so I treated it as a palate cleanser. The other two were just ok.
The check. Going back to my incorrect side - I was brought rice when I ordered fries. Easy mistake in a loud restaurant, so this is why you confirm. But here’s the thing, I should not have to pay for a side when YOU made the error. The side of rice he charged me for was $8. Soooo tell me why, my mom, who also got a side of rice, was only charged $4?!! How can one side be DOUBLE the price of the other - for the same thing?! So when the bill came, we told them to remove the $8 side of rice because we did not order that. We ordered fries (which we were also charged for). Can you guess what they did?! They removed the $4 side of rice instead. We did the calculation ourselves because they refused to bring us another itemized check after the correction. I wonder why…
Such a bizarre experience. Will NEVER go back, and I certainly won’t be recommending this...
Read moreI placed two separate online reservations (it only allowed up to 7 people, and I needed a table for 13) and it said someone would be contacting me. The first reservation they canceled, but I was contacted about the second. I told them it would be AT MOST 13 people for 6:45 but weather was impacting a few of my guests travel from the White Mountains. The phone call I received was around 4, and my wedding would be happening between the hours of the call and the reservations. Whoever I spoke to was very rude and said he's not going to make the reservation unless I give him a definitive number and to call back so again, I said, 13! He stated that there were people who had made reservations months and months in advance, and they close at 8 etc etc. which made me believe that our business wasn't of value. So I asked him was he going to take our business or should we go elsewhere. He went ahead and made the reservation after all.
Fast forward....half our party arrived right on time and was met with "you'll all have to fit right there that's the only space we have available " which was fine. Whatever...the other half of our party arrived within 10minutes. 5 of my guests NEVER received drinks, it took 40 minutes for any one to take our orders, the wait for food wasn't nearly as long. However, I did order a margarita when the waitress took our orders and didn't receive it until I asked for it, and even then I was almost finished with dinner. Two of my guest shared a meal and they never brought us an extra plate, even after asking. Service here has drastically gone down hill. The only thing good here now is the food.
Friends and family took care of the bill, and I heard that was another nightmare!
It was disheartening to leave this review, as I've been a lifelong customer of Los Dos Molinos. The old Springerville location holds fond memories for me. I use to frequent the south central location, but after our experience here recently I think I'll spend...
Read moreAbsolutely terrible!!! Don't waste your time! 0/5 stars. Making a reservation was interesting. The reservation wouldn't go through until we got a call back. When they called us back, they said that there wasn't a reservation available for 7pm but instead for 6:30pm which is totally fine. We got there and got seated. The place is sketchy, but we figured it was a good sign for Mexican...we were wrong. When 7pm came, they were empty. It was only our party and 3 other parties eating. Our server was nice! But was terrible. She brought us drinks the first time and took our food order then we never saw her again. No else checked on us either. The chips and salsa were gross. It is a disgrace to call what they offered as salsa, salsa. Extremely spicy and not in a good way...also disgusting in general. All of our food was extremely disgusting, and over priced. My sister had the chicken taco, and I tried it...spit it out immediately. It tasted bland and like boiled chicken. Actually, boiled chicken would have tasted better. After reading the menu, I didn't order anything because nothing sounded good, and boy am I glad I didn't get anything! When the manager took away our plates, he didn't ask us how we liked it and didn't even acknowledge that all of our food was left on the plate. My father was extremely ticked about the quality of service and food. My grandfather ended up paying for the meal without telling anyone and that's how the restaurant got lucky, because my father wouldn't have paid for anything. Also, the restaurant automatically adds a 20% gratuity to any party of 5 or more and doesn't split checks which is absolutely stupid and ridiculous. When my father complained to the manager, the manager did nothing to fix the problem, just a lame "sorry". Extremely disappointed and we will never return to any location. Please, do not waste your time like we did. I have no idea how this restaurant has such a high rating and such...
