Our inaugural experience at Midland Bistro left us with mixed feelings and little desire for a swift return. As newcomers to the area, we've been eagerly exploring the local dining scene, but unfortunately, our initial encounter with this establishment didn't quite live up to the hype.
Opting for the crab cake benedict with bacon, we were met with a dish that, while undeniably delicious, fell short in terms of portion size and value. The bacon garnish, which was advertised as a key component of the dish, was disappointingly meager, resembling more of a token sliver than a substantial accompaniment. At $20 for what was purportedly a "full order," our expectations were regrettably unmet.
While the food itself boasted flavors worthy of commendation, the overall dining experience failed to leave a lasting impression. Service was adequate, if unremarkable, with no notable highlights to speak of. In hindsight, we found ourselves questioning the glowing reviews that had drawn us to Midland Bistro in the first place, as our own encounter lacked the wow factor that we had anticipated.
Ultimately, our visit left us feeling underwhelmed and somewhat perplexed by the widespread acclaim. While there's no denying the culinary prowess showcased by the kitchen, the lackluster execution in certain aspects left us hesitant to rush back anytime soon. For now, we'll continue our quest to uncover the gems of the local dining scene, hoping to stumble upon that elusive wow...
Read moreEverything about this place is pretty perfect. There is something on the menu for everyone from the heavy eater to those who want something a little on the lighter side. We were on our way to a poetry reading and in need of a bite to eat when we found this place. There is seating available both inside and outside on a nice brick patio. As we waited for our food to arrive, we listened to the table next to us comment favorably on their dishes. When ours arrived, we were not disappointed; the portions were straight up Goldie Locks- not too much, not too little. I got the egg and cheese biscuit with potatoes, my daughter had a waffle, which I stole bites from-it was tasty, and my wife had what looked like a banana split for breakfast: banana cut long ways and topped with fresh fruit, yogurt, and granola. And, get this- it came with a mini bundt coffee cake topped with pecans. To look at it, you'd think it would be dense and heavy, but it was light with just the right amount of sweet. How they do that? I don't know. Try it out for yourself. It's...
Read moreI’m not usually one to talk bad about people or places but if I had read more reviews like mine maybe I wouldn’t have wasted my money. It was very expensive for food I literally had trouble swallowing. When I say I regret stopping here and wasting $40 for lunch I really mean it. Trust me there are a ton of other places so much better and worth your own $40. Don’t get the chicken salad or strawberry shortcake and yes they even messed up strawberry 🍰 shortcake how? I have no idea but i could swallow it but barely and I love love love it usually. I had to talk my husband into stopping and I gave up getting stuff for us to make dinner for this and my lord I wish I hadn’t cuz stuffed peppers are delicious! Whyyyyy did I stop at this...
