I'd been working in town for a few days when I got fed up with running into the local starbux for a coffee and a breakfast sandwich and made time to go to a real diner that served real hash browns (not home fries, HASH BROWNS). Which led me to Gaby's Family Restaurant.
For me the restaurant was out of the way but a zillion people were driving by on the nearby highway, and it was easy to get into the parking lot. I was there on a Thursday morning towards 8 and there was almost no one there. Fine by me.
The coffee wasn't great. I'm a big proponent of hole-in-the-wall diners and their coffee, and Gaby's is below average. No matter, a bit of half and half can fix that.
I generally order eggs, extra crispy hash browns, toast and bacon or sausage for breakfast, and I'm willing to wait for it. Simple taste, I suppose. Gaby's undercooked my eggs a bit (better than overcooked), and served some mushy browns (better than any homefries), but they were super friendly.
So the breakfast wasn't five star, but I'd still go back. I liked it more than the daily starbux sandwich and would head back again if I can make time. I'd make time, too, with the assumption that it was an off day for the cook.
I'd also do everything I can to not sit by the side door, which they seemed to open more often than the front and the constant rush of sweaty, hot, florida air was super annoying. TBH, I should...
Read moreBoyfriend and I are not impressed with the service we just got at this place. We love us some breakfast joints and are always looking for new ones to try. Our waitress was nice and more than accommodating but the owner was not. We ordered our eggs over medium. What we got was over easy. When the waitress told the owner, she came over to look at our plate and said, that is over medium. Over easy is when there is no white on top on the yolk (that is Sunnyside up).
They only had one cook, which is fine. We were willing to wait for what we ordered. Instead of cooking 4 eggs over medium (two for myself and two for my boyfriend) for your first time guests, and eggs costing little to nothing, you now have unhappy guests that won't ever be returning.
I work in a restaurant that has breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We have egg dishes, cooked however you like. If you don't like something or it's not how you like it. No problem, so sorry about that, let us get you a fresh one started. Fix it and have...
Read moreThis is the 2nd time I've Ordered breakfast there. The 1st was eat in and it wasn't that great. But i thought I'd give it another chance with my coworkers. 4 breakfasts for take out. 2 of them were unsatisfactory n one breakfast sandwich had burnt sausage patties on it and they could not be eaten I had to throw them out. Other breakfast had burnt scramble eggs and the home fries tasted sour and spoiled, that breakfast was 9.99. The V8 juice can was expired from 2021 dirty and nasty like it had been on the floor in the cooler and it was the wrong, kind we didn't order spicy we ordered regular. I Had to drive back to restaurant to exchange the V8 they could not credit my card. Waste of time, gas and money. $33 for breakfast and it was not good. Joy who waited on me both times needs to change her name because she was no joy to talk to. Seriously if you are that miserable and it shows to your customers get a different job. Will not...
