my ratings for emerald city -10 for professionalism -10 for prompt start of a store event Lorcan -10 for allowing the F word in a store environment -1,000,000 for allowing a group of tampa gangsters to verbally abuse a disabled senior citizen. -10 for manipulating pairings in an Lorcana event (see photos) +10 for the humor of watching 2 employees who are engaged provide a constantly humorous reason to hook up every 5 or 10 minutes during the tournament.
-1000 for the judge allowing himself to be manipulate by 4 tampa players.
-10 For saying this is just a casual event. The stich promo card was selling for between $300 to $1,000+. With 4 being given away 2 playmats, and packs of Lorcana That made the Prize pool close to a $5K tournament. They kept repeating the event was just for fun. It was no fun to be VERBALLY ATTACKED by a gang who would not play by the rules.
-10 for telling me no deck list required and then saying the person who told you that didn't know what they were doing. This statement HIGH LIGHTS THE ENTIRE SCENARIO
Saturday 4/21/2024 I had a NIGHTMARE horrible experience in the store.
As a parent and grandfather I am appalled. Most of these players where younger that my children. My children were raised better than that. My children were taught religion, values, self esteem, the importance of a good education, how to treat others people the encounter in life. And yes I explained to them about what to expect in the "real world." My wife and I are extremely proud of our children. And I would not have done my job as a parent if I did not treat them with love, kindness and caring. I was blessed and provided a life form my children so they could live a life full of wonderful experiences. My children attended, and graduate for colleges. My oldest has held and is currently a Vice President with a successful company. My youngest child is an upper management employee in his company. I was able to take them on vacations around the world. Hawaii was my mid-life family vacation. Europe, Walt Disney World, Disney Land, Multiple LEGOLAND resorts. I took my family to dinner at country clubs, world famous restaurants (Bubba Gumps in Maui was my personal favorite), and other world class. And these are the reason I am forever thankful for my parents teaching me these values to pass along to my children. Those who don't believe in God, or karma, or in their on personal beliefs no what my next statement need to here my next few statements . I know there is a God. I lost in the rigged 5th round opponent, I compliment him for his win. I followed that up with a 1st round loss in the Top 8. That top 8 loss was to a player I was lucky to beat in round 4. That put his record in melee at 1-3. Somehow in round 5 he got 2 wins and drop off 1 of his losses. (see photo) Congratulations to him for that accomplishment. I should have NEVER faced him in the top 8. I congratulated him when he defeated me in that top 8. I have a philosophy in life. If you want to be the best you have to beat the best. There were very, very, very questionable action during this day. I failed because I could not overcome them all to win. But in the end, I know there is a God. And that is because the BIG MAN went down like a rock in the top 8 as well. When I am judged at the end of this by God I already know the outcome. My parents are in heaven, and they indicated to me that God will do something no one has ever heard of before. They said when I meet God will still list my faults. But God will make sure he mentions to me I was not rude to anyone during the Tournament at emerald city on 4/21/2024. And while there is no intervention in his created humans God will assure me that along with my parents my family will continue to be watched out for. And now and that I will have a dual role as a Guardian Angel for two of his and my creations!
I have no final comment about emerald city. I teach by example and leadership.
As my daughter would say...
Read moreMy girls, my husband, and I, met with another girl and her mom there today. First time. Our oldest (whom was meeting the friend) is heavily into the comic/anime/graphic novel scene. As parents (even tho my husband is a gamer and has a jump on me in this category) we like to stay educated and be active in what she is reading and such. We've even found over the years things we enjoy as well but most of our purchases are made online. To find this place was awesome. I'm an avid reader, the feeling of the book in ur hands is nothing like reading it on a tablet, call me old fashioned if you must even though I'd like to think I'm still the young mom at 30 😎. There was one gentlemen (with awesome hair I must add) who was very very courteous and helpful. He offered help when we arrived and we declined. We wanted to scoop it out ourselves before asking anything. To get a lay of the land if you will. However when we were ready to talk and ask questions he was super helpful, not too pushy, he was very personable. Very professional without the sales pitch. We bought a good few things he suggested. My only Complaint is one gentlemen who never actually spoke to me, but came so close as to looking over my shoulder not once but 3x. Once at the register. I exuded my adult quiet even tho the 3rd time almost had me say something. I didn't have a purse, merely my wallet. I almost offered to allow him to search me merely to make a point. Our first visit we spent over 100$. Our first visit. I'm sure as my daughter gets older and my husband and myself become more and more interested that number will grow. We have had vacations merely around comics. Vacations are not cheap. I love the place we will be back however I cannot promise after so many encounters with said employee that I won't say when he makes me feel this way. I may offer him my basket and wallet to hold just so he feels comfortable just because I'm that...
Read moreOne of the most impressive Comics and Collectibles stores I've personally ever seen. The rows of comics alone is enough to take an entire day to sift through. This is essentially the warehouse version, The Amoeba of Florida, if you will, of Toys, Comics, and Games. If you're a toy collectible person, I'm personally not, but if you like Hot Toys, and the like, where you have authentic and lifelike looking toys of Christian Bale's Batman, etc, this is a place for you. Also, there were countless rare and older toys from decades ago for the 66 Batman, Thundercats, etc. I consider myself very novice in the world of comics, and this genre of media, so it can be overwhelming at first! Everything you might need from the novice to the experience comic enthusiast can be found here. If you're looking for board games, card games, dungeon's and dragons, then that can all be found here as well. The display of these items are expansive and impressive. More than a day it would take the average goer to sift through the arcane, the comical, and the maniacal foes and heroes of the comic age. I found a Bram Stoker''s Dracula -Universal Monsters/Dark Horse comics version just in time for Halloween, didn't even know they made comics based on the original Dracula! The staff are helpful and will help you research an issue or dig through the bowels of the store to help you find an issue. There are 2 massive desks with walls set up for the rare and expensive comics. And for a fun treat, they had some great Halloween decor for us Holiday shoppers. Overall, a rarity, and impressive store, or warehouse is more like it, of the adventures and gems from today's pop comic culture, to the memories of yesteryear. This is an enjoyable spot for the novice who just wants to try something new, or the...
