We stopped in yesterday afternoon for a bite on our way to Woodbine. I parked on the E Main side and entered through 1st Street. There were a few folks sitting at tables and booths. We picked the open booth near the back. Our server was busy preparing a salad bar for the evening crowd; but happily greeted us. Prices on the menu were a surprise. My cheeseburger was only $5.50. The young lady took our orders to the kitchen somewhere not visible and returned to her prep work. I'll be honest: The joint is not very clean. I can't be certain; but our table showed evidence of not having been thoroughly wiped off for some time. I observed food particles, napkin remnant, and flies persistent and numerous. The salad bar kiosk's cooling vents were something to behold. We were still going to give them a chance, because we don't fancy ourselves as prima donnas; and we were hungry. We had already driven many miles without breakfast. We hadn't said a word or openly frowned "out loud"; but, a gal from the kitchen area just matter of factly walked over and laid a fly swatter on the table (which was useful). After waiting for a bit, I sauntered over to locate a restroom and sink. It was down a short narrow hall to the bar end of the building with an exit/entrance to E Main. What a surprise!! Well lit, comparitively expansive with clean tables and an invitingly sanitary atomosphere. I asked the server in this room if we could have our meal in the bar location, which is how our meal time played out. Crystal was now our "waitress". She was delightful : Sharing her insights about the town and making certain all went well with our experience. The food was delicious! The fries were beer battered and fantastic. My wife's grilled cheese hit the spot. We washed it down with a couple O' cans of Coke and paid cash. The bill came to just over 16 bucks!! Dave's OHC will not take credit cards; but we had enough cash. If you want a great grill meal for a decent price; GO in the bar side and ask...
Read moreI walked in the cafe today, and sat at the end of the bar by the kitchen. Three people in the entire place. I didn't see any employees for a minute until the bartender came out from the kitchen. She walked right by me, collected her tips from the bar, and walked back by me again into the kitchen. She didn't say one word to me. So I waited. I waited some more. The staff was in the kitchen talking, and I see the bartender filling up a pitcher, but she doesn't look up to see if there are any customers. Finally, I just left....
Read moreMy favorite part about this place is the mismatched plates at the soup/salad bar that has real 'salads' made (i.e. the cucumber onion salad that my mom and granny make). The soup was yummy!
The food is so hot because it is cooked to order.
The waitress is sweet and the epitome of girl next door. She brought a bottle of ranch with my food as opposed to a small dish or even worse those little bitty individual plastic cups. The ranch was homemade. I could see the seasoning in the squeeze...
